Someone suggested doing this on another forum I'm on, so I thought I'd do it here. So as you've probably heard, on December 14th, the FCC will be having a vote to repeal the United States' Net Neutrality laws. These are laws put in place so that ISPs will treat all websites equally. Repealing Net Neutrality means that ISPs would be able to slow down, block access to, or charge extra money for access to their competitors, or just websites they don't agree with. Our Internet would come in separate packages, like a Social Media package for $8.99 a month for websites like Twitter and Instagram, and an Entertainment package, also $8.99 a month, for websites like Netflix and Hulu. Here's a picture if you don't know what I mean: If you're not American, you probably wonder how this affects you. Well, the majority of our staff is from the US, including me and RyanAB. If our Internet is slowed down and more expensive, it would be harder for us to moderate the forums, as well as American staff on other websites. You would have a harder time talking to your American friends on Skype or Discord. In fact, Discord would be worse for everybody, as stated in this article written by them. There are many other negative effects, but it would take too long to fully explain them all. If you're from the US, call your local congressmen and let them know that you don't want Net Neutrality laws repealed. Without Net Neutrality laws, everything from these forums, to Discord, to Netflix, to...the whole Internet, really, will be negatively affected. On behalf of the entire forum staff, we ask that you help support these laws being upheld. Check out this website to learn more. UPDATE: Also make sure to sign this petition.

I don’t understand why anyone would support this anyways. I mean, I know it might boost the economy of the US or something like that, but it will do more damage than good.

You mean supporting removing the laws or supporting keeping the laws? Supports removing the laws. I don’t understand why anyone would. The head of the FCC, Ajit Pai, is the main person in support of removing the laws. His main argument against the laws is that they're "legislating the Internet" and that removing the laws will "set the Internet free."

I’m wondering how many times he fell on his head when he was young... I mean, it does mean better money for the people who profit, but it will make people not want to use the services anymore. That will bring down revenue if you think about it. Also, clicking on the “this website” brings me to this thread. Just thought I’d point that out.

What kind of idiot would support repealing these laws? The idiots who receive huge "donations" from all the major internet companies that may or may not be bribes because when these laws are gone it means more money for them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

they're not gonna remove it there's no god damn way they'll actually do it It's expected that the vote will end with Net Neutrality gone, having a split of 2 to 3. This is important for anyone on the internet regardless of political affiliation. We need to all stand together and do everything we can to oppose this.
