I do not understand why FPS bypass is bad at all Person 1: *has 144hz* Person 2: *hacks to have 144hz on a 60hz monitor* Person 1 and 2 then both beat Bloodlust. Person 1 gets list points because he has 144hz, but person 2 doesn't because they hacked 144hz for themselves. One gets points and the other doesn't even though they're both on 144 frames per second! How is that fair or OK? Some would argue that it's using a third party program to make the game easier. Yes it is, but it's hacking into something that's still considered legitimate, which is 144hz. It's like you're trying to make people pay big money for a powerful monitor with such a refresh rate, even though the money isn't even going to you. Now how rude is that? I think Sunix should be back on the list. He did nothing wrong. Here's the problem though, Sunix was already using a 144hz monitor, and used the fps bypass to make it so he got an even higher refresh rate, 180 frames per second. |

Imo Sunix's ban is fair, because he didn't tell about him using the bypass. The entire FPS bypass situation may get more drama now that RobTop said that he's okay with the bypass ( 1, 2), and in my opinion it's okay to use it as long as it's set to be adequate (60fps-144fps). Tons of modern games have a built-in FPS limiter, so what's so wrong about that? |

Can someone explain whats FPS bypass to me? From my understanding, it makes the game render more frames per second without actually showing those frames on your monitor. Example: If you're using a 60hz monitor and use the bypass to get to 120 frames per second, the game is running at 120 frames per second, but your monitor is still displaying 60 frames per second. This is basically the equivalent of playing on a 120hz monitor (as far as we know). Since you have to wait less long for the next frame, it makes the game smoother and there is less delay with clicks. I always found this to be a hilariously pointless debate. In older games that actually run without a normalized tickrate (FPS based) people could manipulate FPS all the time without anyone caring; it was just a tactic to make certain things go faster and to help with certain tricks. Apparently, though, everybody is complaining about a 36hz increase. Rediculously insignificant. Oh, you beat an insanely hard level that only 5 players are even close to beating? Well you had a tickrate faster by 36hz so it doesn't count :^)
Seriously. Stop complaining and get FPS bypass yourself if you feel so cheated. Legalize it; why is this even a debate. If worse comes to worse, create two categories: FPS bypassed and non-bypassed. There is no reason somebody should be kicked off of the entire list just because of that, it's fucking asinine.
Hopefully RobTop implements a replacement because god knows this community can't resolve anything in an even remotely timely manner.

He lied about using it though. Also according to daily news he removed some level obstacles too, so... He deserves to be banned. He hacked, he lied about it. There's nothing else to it. So he used the fps bypass and the editor hack and hid them? I'm starting to think the motive of using the hack is to attempt to prove that Bloodlust is easier than PPF This x100. If I had to guess, he's jealous of Knobbelboy and wants to get back at him by getting his level pushed down. |

This "it's a hack so it should be banned" argument only holds water if hacking by itself is considered unethical within the community only because it's hacking; and indeed, some people would claim that. Others would say that hacking is only a problem because it provides unfair advantages. But does the FPS bypass really do so? It only makes it so that GD can run over 60 fps, which makes straight-flying much easier, although slope bugs and other glitches can occur. From what I've seen, this description fits very well with monitors with higher refresh rates (such as 144 Hz); if their records are accepted, then why shouldn't the FPS bypass be accepted? If Sunix fanboys flaming the list editors because he's been banned is bad then what you're doing is just as bad, if not worse. yeah but the way some people use it is solely to get an unfair advantage. Rules of the list are rules, there's no getting around that. Players like RPGRaketti have like 240Hz monitors (I think) so if using the bypass to get ridiculously boosted FPS isn't okay then why should runs using monitors like that be accepted? Also saying that "rules of the list are rules" is kinda silly IMO; why not just change the rules? I'm not flaming anyone, or harassing them, I just don't really give a shit if sunix gets banned from the list, I don't see how I'm doing just as bad if not worse, but you do you I suppose. Yeah that's my bad lol, right before that you said that you have a negative opinion of sunix so I just assumed that you were flaming him |

None of this would be an issue if GD had a locked frame rate. I also find it hilarious how people are saying that Sunix used the FPS bypass in order to say that PPF is harder than BL when Skullo beat BL first (admittedly with a FPS bypass) in less than 10k attempts as opposed to the over 100k that Knobbelboy put in and said that PPF was the harder level (by right of 2/3 of the level is just a buffed BB).

OT - regardless of your feelings towards FPS bypass, using it is against qualification rules on the list, Sunix broke that rule, and now he is banned. Simple. Might be a stupid rule, but he still broke it, and thus deserves to have his records wiped.

Might be a stupid rule, but he still broke it, and thus deserves to have his records wiped. He wasn't banned for using the FPS bypass. Skullo used it and didn't get banned. Sunix was probably banned because he lied about it, and he might've also used an editor hack. IIRC Sunix removed some objects (like spikes) |
