On a more serious note, seems like a good change, hopefully stupid people won't be ruining newgrounds as much, but the big problem is that they won't see this update unless it is announced in-game.

If a new artist is legit and wants to share his songs I will take a look at it, but it wont be very often. This is a way to 100% make sure that no copyrighted content will be available in Geometry Dash. Its a tough change, but I think it is for the best  |

Hey Robtop, is there a way you can tell to some "relevant" people (like youtubers) to motivate their fans to not try to upload copyrighted songs? they have some influence and maybe can help to reduce the amount of songs that doesn't belong in /audio.
I would like to try by myself too if that can helps

So lets say you are a new artist and want to make some good music specifically for geometry dash levels... is there no way to upload your music and then request permission from you to be able to use it (after you check its not stolen) Shame... I think this could discourage new artists who would want to make real music to be used in geometry dash without such a system... At least it will solve the issue of song theft... Hope some improvements to this system (like having a request list for individual songs) comes soon |

Who are the currently approved artists?
Does that mean I'll have to change the song for my WIPs that use songs by unknown artists?

OT: at first I thought it was an awful idea because I get almost all of my songs from very small artists. But all the scouted artists' songs can be used in the future so it seems like a good deal

If we're using music from a few approved artist doesn't that mean a lot of songs will be overused

Hopefully the word will spread and those who upload music they did not create will stop.
New artists will still be added to the game, just that I will do it manually and not that often.
Unknown artists are not the same as new artists. If you are working on a WIP and the song is already available, than the artist will still be available now. (Unless the song is removed by the artist or Newgrounds)
