I wasn't an extreme demon player but from what I have noticed, a lot of people who do play them often use monochrome colors and simpler icons in general, so they can see and focus on their icons more easily (helpful for things like straight fly). This seems to go for ship and ufo gamemodes specifically, since the bigger/fatter ones are a little easier to see; maybe it has something to do with hitboxes though, not sure about that one.

for me using the exact AeonAir icons helped me beat ToE 2 and then i started getting inconsistent so i used mint and white default cube
