In my experience, 9 stars are about as hard as a 7 star, or as hard as a medium-hard demon.

it sure does seem like rob rates a lot of bad easy demons as 9 stars just as a favor to demon grinders

namestuffs moved to Debate Haven't played in awhile but in my experience Rob definitely has messed with ratings to give easier easy demons, although of course that's not always the case, especially since difficulties change with the community on a regular basis.

Depends on which, but definitely many are, especially now. Even as far back as before ratings were standardized, the 10 or so rated Insane levels that existed were definitely on par with the easier demons. Mix in difficultly fluctuation over the years, and obnoxious new features and the average insane level now is probably significantly harder than easy demons from the past like The Nightmare. Look no further than when RobTop demoted 7 Back on Track to 7☆ in 1.9

I remember while I was beating all the past daily levels, I found some 9 stars that felt like medium demons. also rip 7 back on track

I remember when I used to star grind, I'd avoid insane levels like a plague, cuz it was usually just wasted the same time as beating a demon level but without getting the +1 to my demon count lmao

I mainly blame triggers and other newer features for that. I tried playing a few insane levels just now to see where they're at now, and they're all just full of moving blocks, unpredictable hazards, distracting decorations, and other bs that makes them unfun to play. Yet the overall path to the end of the level is fit for an insane difficulty. The timings are simple, nothing too tight, it's all the aforementioned nonsense that makes the difficulty feel artificially inflated imo
