I'm curious, how does everyone think about the new possible top 1, Tidal Wave. I don't really have much to say but finally that there isn't a hell themed top 1.

Not a big fan of it honestly it's pretty mid. There been a few non hell themed top 1s so it's not that big of a deal.

I don't want to diss the level too hard because it's made by someone who doesn't have too much experience with the level editor, but I genuinely do not see the appeal of this level. Popular community figures could promote the most amateur levels ever and the wider GD community will still eat that shit up because they are children. I don't care if it's top numero uno or whatever people care about; the days of actually being hyped about the hardest demons in the game died with Tartarus being dethroned by Icedcave's red slop level. The one gimmick this level hangs on for relevancy with has already been beaten into a cloud of pink mist, so nothing about it actually stands out. It's very clear that Robert does not like this level one bit and it will most likely remain unrated, but maybe it's for the best.

I think it is overly praised simply for not being hell themed. There are other non hell top 1 demons that are better visually. I wouldnt say tidal wave is bad, cuz it is pretty good deco. But I dont think thatbsong is suitable for anything more than medium demon difficulty. Seeing a top 1 gameplay with that song. The beach themed deco makes it even more awkward. Honestly such a concept would have been very good for an easier level. To simply put, Tidal wave may have good design. But it really doesnt give a top 1 vibes. So I am kinda happy that avernus/acheron still remain at top. But keeping my personal bias aside, Tidal wave deserves a rate to be fair. Probably it will get rated after a harder denons is verified and rated. |

I wouldn't call Firework excellent, but it's still miles above Slaughterhouse in quality. You're technically right with it being the hardest demon, but when Slaughterhouse was widely considered by the community to be the hardest demon in the game in 2021, I completely lost interest in those types of levels.

i really like tidal wave because the designs are really nice, the song is really good and the level's themes are usually executed very well. i enjoy how the first few seconds of gameplay completely subverse expectations, taking a rather chill part and speeding it up! also gotta love those screen wiper beams when the drop hits lol. there are some minor complaints i have such as the subpar custom backgrounds and at times jank gameplay but overall it's a really good level and i really like it!

I like the level quite a bit. While it's probably not feature worthy for today's standards, I still think it deserves a basic rate.tbf it is onilink's first level.
I think the main reason it lost the mod vote is because of its nong song, but this doesn't really matter since the level is impossible for anyone on mobile rn. Plus, they have a remix of the song now. I sure hope they do a 2nd mod vote for it because I can't wait to see it at #1.
Edit: I actually saw tw in the sent tab about 2 weeks ago but still no rate. Who knows, maybe he just doesn't want a nong lvl at the top of the list, so he's waiting for a top 1 with a ng song to be verified (similar to arcturus). Or maybe he really doesn't care about top 1s and it doesn't meet his standards.
Edit 2: For those of you who think it isn't rate worthy, remember that thinking space is rated, & acheron is featured.

The level layout seems to be fine. The Idea is unique in my opinion but the execution isn't as good as I expected.
Felt more like a rushed attempt on making a top 1 than a top 1 that actually took time.
Its better than soulless top 1's and hell themes ones so it's good to have a unique style top 1 on the leaderboard.
