I'm not either of the two people mentioned but I'm going to give some feedback anyway. I want to be level judge and this seems like a perfect level to start with in my quest lmao.
Now for the level itself. Luckily I don't have to be too mean this time around because I think this is really charming.
It reminded me of alkali and some of rafers earlier stuff. Just without polish.
Which leads me into one of my biggest problems. It doesn't feel polished yet.
Now your probably wondering what that means so allow me to go into more detail
The block designs are mostly good. With a few exceptions (mainly the ship at 20% which needs a little work)
But the structuring is the real issue here.
It feels pretty empty is a lot a places. Which is my biggest problem with the level.
Don't get discouraged though. I have struggled with that for literal years now. Its really tough to pull off.
Another issue I had was the balancing.
Unlike a lot of people I don't care if a level isn't consistently the same difficulty all the way through.
But this level just feels scattershot with how its balanced.
You'll get a part that feels like an easy demon then a part that feels like a 3 star right next to each other.
Try to keep a difficulty curve in mind when making a level and don't be afraid to go back and heavily overhaul a levels gameplay. (even if its extremely annoying to do lmao trust me I've been there)
One more issue before we get into the positives.
The color schemes while fine on paper do need a little work.
I use websites for my color schemes which I will link here
coolors.co/ color.adobe.com/create/color-wheelIts really handy for this kind of thing. (plus knowing a little more color theory doesn't hurt anyone right?)
But that's about all the issues I had. Now lets get into the fun stuff.
POSITIVE THINGS YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH
It just might be me but I actually really liked the gameplay.
It definitely needs better balancing like I mentioned before but each individual part was very fun and unique.
If there's one thing I think you should keep its your gameplay style. We need more creators with unique styles for gameplay and you did a great job with that.
Another thing I liked was the progression.
Each part felt unique and I think that's really cool. Especially given the levels length.
It made it feel more like a journey which is something you should always do.
One last thing before I end the review. I really liked the little transitions and fake outs
They made this so much more charming and enjoyable.
Overall just a very charming fun level with some flaws that hold it back.
Don't let any of this discourage you btw. I know criticism isn't fun but hopefully its helpful at least.
If I were a level judge I would place this in decent but sadly I cannot do that yet.
Hopefully this helps.
