RIP forum

GD isn't as widely talked about now as it was in its heyday but still has a fairly large active playerbase, so the game isn't really dead, at least not yet. People absolutely do prefer Discord more for its smoother and more advanced features, such as instant messaging instead of having to wait hours/refresh a page for responses like in here, voice chats, actual working images/gifs/videos, better moderation, etc. Accessibility is also a huge disadvantage the forums have: Discord is pretty much identical across desktop and mobile, whereas the forum isn't. It can already be complex to use the forums on PC, and using them on mobile is an absolute pain (and Tapatalk is either around the same or worse, as well as being hard if not impossible to moderate from - I've tried it).

Even ignoring all these, Discord is just way more convenient for the modern internet user than forums, which is why most classic forums like this one are usually only kept alive by old-internet users (who are too stubborn and/or too inept to adjust/transition to a more modern and streamlined platform) and are thus dying faster and faster as time goes by. The only advantage the forum really had over Discord, even in its heyday, is that the forum is much smaller than the GDS, so it felt more like a community here where you could recognize the regulars and stuff, whereas I can go to GDS and just get overwhelmed by the size and scope of things, because it's hundreds of thousands of people talking all at once lol, I only know a handful of people on there.
