Is there any way to scale a group of objects while keeping them in their relative position? Everytime I try they get messed up all over the place.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way that I know of. Hopefully they haven't messed up so much that you can't easily get them back into position afterward; if there aren't too many objects in the group, you could try scaling each one individually and see if that helps.
