This is actually a very interesting question! I've considered it myself but never really looked into it. It's on proboards' side (if that wasn't obvious already), the staff don't have any control over the generated link. If I were to guess, I'd probably say it concatenates all the words in the title minus common words like "the", "to", "what" (in this case, "how" and "do"). It seems like a decent way to avoid thread conflicts while still retaining the majority of its meaning. I'd be interested in hearing what other people think, though I'm not sure if we could ever get a definite answer.  |

I've just been looking through a few random threads and haven't found one that had "the" yet. There's some threads with nothing too, like gdforum.freeforums.net/thread/64672/ or gdforum.freeforums.net/thread/64557/. (also i didn't even notice, wow. finally hit 5k) I think It was an older nonsense lounge thread, but I think the numbers after are the number of post athere are on the fourums and the words are probaly filterred out to so not only rare wrds are in the links so it not only shortens them but makes the easier too distinguish. |
