Right now, 99% of new users never make any threads or contribute to discussion (just look at the users by date of registration).
There should be a place specifically for new users to introduce themselves and tell other users about themselves. When they join the forum, they should be prompted to go there. There could be some text saying, e.g. "Introduce yourself here: what recent progress have you made in geometry dash? What have you learned in geometry dash lately? What levels have you beaten lately?" This would make the forum more welcoming for new users.
