I personally believe they will, because of the recent killing things have escalated too much that its inevitable. The US loves invading Middle East countries for some reason (Iraq l, Afghanistan etc). (Insert Oil meme XDXD)

I think a war between USA and Iran is possible but I doubt this conflict is gonna start WW3 like some people are saying.

I'm agreeing with Dragon on this one. While war may occur specifically with Iran, I doubt it'll become an international conflict, perhaps due to the U.S. military strength.

Can’t really say quite yet since everything hinges on how Iran responds. If they attack Americans stationed in the area or launch an attack on American soil then there will undoubtedly be war. How far this war is taken depends on the other players involved. Russia and Syria both support Iran. I don’t doubt that Iran has nuclear weapons and Russia likely has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world and could reduce half the planet to ash on a whim. Other countries being dragged into wars due to their allies isn’t uncommon so that alone is a terrifying prospect. Iran has also labelled the city Tel Aviv as a target of interest of theirs (a lot of countries in the Middle East aren’t a huge fan of Israel). Israel is an ally of the US. Saudi Arabia is also an American ally so they may get dragged into this as well (they likely will thanks fo a mutual defence agreement signed around the beginning of the Cold War). But again, everything hinges on what Iran does. If they do nothing (which isn’t likely) then war is averted. We just have to see the extent of what they do first. Their chants of “death do America” as the dead general’s body was brought in and the general being referred to as a “martyr” are probably the most concerning. I live on the Canadian west coast so in theory I’m fine. Anyone on the east coast is completely fucked if things go sideways though since if Iran just wants to cause damage then they’ll hit major population and economic centres like Washington DC and New York. If nuclear weapons are used then it’ll likely end up negatively affecting the southern parts of Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada. Being caught in the crossfire like that may be enough to drag Canada into the war, at which point article 5 of NATO would be invoked as an attack against one is an attack against all and there’s your world war. That’s if the US doesn’t invoke article 5 first. Whether or not they even can, I have no clue, since they’re technically the aggressors in this situation having just assassinated an Iranian general. Regardless, the next couple weeks are going to be kinda terrifying. I’d rather not get drafted into an American war as a Canadian to fight a group of militants that have a lovely habit of beheading people, be they soldiers, reporters, tourists, or whoever else they think has information or poses a threat. That whole section of the globe is about as welcoming as an agitated hornet’s nest and should be left well alone. Let them deal with their intrapolitical garbage and if things get dicey (like Rwanda or Kosovo levels of dicey), then intervene. So long as the Supreme Leader of Iran (yes that’s his actual title, same as North Korea and other shithole countries with flagrant human rights violations) focuses domestically then we’re good. But assassinating high ranking generals in a drone strike isn’t going to help that.

More or less completely agree, if this becomes a war on an international scale. If the USA's or Iran's allies don't get pulled in deep and make everything escalate, even if no one else besides those two countries gets involved, idk for sure who would come out on top but I'm thinking it would be the US unless Iran has more nuclear capabilities or have some other trick up their sleeves that nobody knows about. If any allies joined forces with Iran, particularly Russia, the US would either have a much harder battle to fight or it'll be toast (which is bad imo, considering how I and everyone and everything I know and love is located in the US). While the US assassinating the Iranian general may have been a bad idea from an amoral standpoint, it's over now, and the US embassy (which classifies as US soil I believe) is in shambles to say the least.
