I feel like if the gameplay is good, and it has well-received feedback, layouts should get star ratings. Now, I don't mean a level built in two minutes by a popular YouTuber should be rated, but layouts with good gameplay should end up getting star ratings, because stars are given to player by completing the level, because it is good enough to be rewarded for. That's where the layout gameplay comes in. If you disagree, let me know, and why. EDIT: ONLY STAR RATINGS!! not features.

I can't imagine how many Conical Depressions will be made after that

A rating isn't a thing to reward someone beating the level- its for the creator to get noticed. Now, if layouts were to get rated, it would really kill the incentive to decorate since anyone with a half-decent layout can just get it rated and we'll just end out with a bunch of 1.0 block levels with the default blue background when we go to the featured tab.

I can't imagine how many Conical Depressions will be made after that Conical Depression has gameplay that pretty much nobody considers "good". It shouldn't have gotten rated in the first place, even under this new proposal. But yes, there will definitely be a lot of Conical Depression-esque levels made after this. OT: Nowadays, there's probably just as many layouts that never get decorated as there are actual decorated levels, due to the fact that decoration is extremely time-consuming, a lot more so than making a layout. (The standards nowadays are REALLY high for featured/epic levels). I honestly kind of agree with you, OP. The problem with this is, levels suddenly become 10x easier to make, so there will be at least 10x more rate-worthy levels on the server. Even if you do have a good layout that's star worthy, the chance that Robtop sees it would be slim to none, because there's just SO many more levels out there just as worthy of a star rating as yours, and Rob just can't keep up. Another reason I agree with it is the issue of overdecoration and lag. You shouldn't have to have a god-tier PC just to be able to play the newly rated demon that came up when you searched. I am aware that this is somewhat Robtop's fault for not optimizing the game properly, but most of the fault is on creators for putting too much unnecessary crap into their levels (especially glow. Glow spam sometimes looks pretty cool, but it is the single worst cause of lag BY FAR. And moving/rotating glow is even worse. Don't even get me started). IMO robtop should not give epic to any level over 80,000 objects, and not feature any level over 120,000 objects. tl;dr These are the top 2 reasons why I think layouts should stand a chance of getting rated. (1) The standards for a rate/feature/epic are too high currently, and (2) LLAAAAAAAGGGGG.

No. The only exceptions when a layout should be rated is when it's very unique. That's why I think Aleph 0 deserved to be at least rated, because despite it just using base blocks, it stands out a lot and it has a variety of unique effects that make the level memorable.

Things like Mountain King by Funnygame (which is essentially 90% layout) are already able to get star rating with no feature. I think good enough layouts should be able to be rated however due to the nature of the community it will lead to "This layout got rated but not mine, rigged" arguments almost instantly as well as "it's just an excuse to put less effort into levels" which already happened with levelution. So I'd say that the best layouts get a start rating but not featured, so that people aren't motivated to only make layouts but people are also acknowledged for that kind of stuff.
