I often thought about a search option for other versions and I think it would be a great addition to GD in many different ways. Considering that the upload date of level is stored on the servers this shouldn't be that hard to implement either. I would like to see such a serch option in one of the next updates.

this is cool but can be exploited i.e if a level had a secret way in the past and was patched, people can select an old version and exploit it. i feel like not clicking the update button is the best thing you can do.

this is cool but can be exploited i.e if a level had a secret way in the past and was patched, people can select an old version and exploit it. i feel like not clicking the update button is the best thing you can do. I mean searching levels in the version they were build, not downgrading levels, the 'version' refers to the game, not the level version.
A level build in 2.0 will show if I search for 2.0
A level build in 1.8 but pached in 2.0 either show up in 2.0 or 1.8 (a checkbox-option might be a good way to handle this, like: [X] "By original version" or [X] " By update vesion")
A level build in 1.8 and never updated will show up in 1.8
However the level you'll find will always have the latest update the creator created, so if a secret way was patched, whatever you do it'll stay patched.

I like this idea, only thing is it won't work if the upload date wasn't stored properly (which was the case with older levels). It should be good for newer versions though, good idea
