I'd say probably when there aren't enough active members to sustain a few posts a day. Then there becomes no point in checking the forums since the chance of anything happening is very low.
That probably won't happen for quite a while, and even if it does the eventual release of 2.2 will generate a lot of discussion again.

Honestly it's felt dead to me since like 2018, but it's technically still active. Just seems like there's lots of very repetitive and useless (and some very stupid) threads made for the sake of just posting something rather than to bring up conversation, and lots of actual constructive members seem to have left.
I don't think this'll die completely though before the game does. There will definitely be periods of inactivity though due to just literally nothing of interest to talk about however like it's felt to me for awhile.

Yeah like JY_2000 said the forums are a bit stagnant right now, and IMO that's mainly due to 2.2 taking so long to come out

It seems like it is losing steam already at the moment. For me personally it feels like discord has totally filled the gap that the forums used to fill for me in my fix for GD discussion. It just lends itself so much better to that.

I've only known the forums in it's current "dead" state as I joined about a year ago. From my experience it hasn't gotten much better or much worse since then. My guess is that the forums will spike in activity for a few months when 2.2 gets released and then go back to the state it's in right now and has been for the past year.
