I prefer Android because many things are generally cheaper and more are free.
Example: In order to upload apps on Apple's app store, you have to join their developer program and pay $100 per month just to stay in, and if you don't pay I believe they can take down all your apps or suspend payments coming from your apps.
On the other hand, you need a one-time payment of $25 to get a license to release apps on the Google Play Store, nothing else. Your apps would only be taken down if, I presume, they go against whatever Google's standard is for what's appropriate and what's not.

Android by a longshot.
No offense to any owner of Apple products but for me Apple is one of the most cashgrab-y companies to exist these days. Their products have usually a higher price than most average phones (some of them are even stupidly overpriced like the new iPhone XS. Who will even bother to waste over 1500 dollars/euros just to buy a phone that isn't very different than other high-end phones which you probably could get by paying less than 1000 dollars. It's stupid how overpriced their products are, and that's just because they have their own mark, system, etc.
Another thing why I prefer Android is that it's an open source system and that means that you can modify it much easier than on Apple. You can have various variants of the system (however some things require rooting the phone which has a few consequences in case if it would damage your OS), you have more freedom with settings, customizations and apps. In iOS there's so much unnecessary protection that it just makes navigating the system more limited. I understand that they prefer to protect their stuff, but come on, some of their features just feel stupidly forced.
Also @terminate , I actually like Apple's policy more in this situation. Maybe the price is a bit too high but I think it'd be better if you paid monthly (it could have been just 25$ or less, not 100$) to keep them than just perform a single payment. That way people would control the content in the stores more strictly and it'd significantly decrease the amount of shovelware in the stores (which is pretty bad in the Google Play store).
Also if you don't know what shovelware is, they're just pretty much low effort apps that are often cashgrab or poor bootlegs of other games for example.

android bc it's more available on more phones, considering it's more open than iOS in general
and also bc they won't shatter into a million pieces if you were to drop a phone unlike apple phones

I do prefer the price to develop on Android, but you have a point with shovelware. Android does indeed have a problem with it - I got my first phone last week and about 20% of space was already taken up.
