Erm, considering the ID number to be this low, I don't expect much 2.1 stuff from this. Setting decoration aside, there are gameplay issues I want to point out.
- You don't fix error at your route by stuffing a teleportation portal and redirecting the player. That's the last resort. Either fine-tune the orbs or just completely redesign the gameplay. - Orbs are too far away, that the player does not have enough time to react with that. A good gameplay should show the player how to play the level, whether it is the orbs, or spikes, or anything related to gameplay. Dying by missing a orb that shows up suddenly is NOT FUN. Plus, there are much more hidden orbs, pads, stuff that are simply not player-friendly. - Use the mirror portal WISELY. The effect confuses player so don't make the player react shortly after the effect. - Make a proper wave part. If you don't know what a proper wave part is, go play Blast Processing by RobTop. Similarly, play Epic (or Featured) levels to see what is proper gameplay.
Besides of gameplay, I think I should point out some areas of improvement on deco.
- Stacking the same thing is a 100% dumb move. It's not eye-catching and it gives a repetitive, boring feel. Mix different blocks and your levels will become better. This is true for recent version like 1.8-1.9. (not all. cuz 1.0 and deco? you serious?) - Just add decoration objects. Anything ranging from an arrow or beam or even a 1.0 light post will do. You won't feel bad when you add something. Trust me, it only makes the level better.
I always recommend people to play Epic levels, they are the meta today after all. If they provide a copyable version, that's good, copy it. You can go in-depth and see how people make their deco. If you don't know exactly the block. Here's a trick.
- Go to the Build section. - If a block is selected (selected = that panel becomes darker), deselect it by clicking it at the block select bar. - Click the block you want to know. - GD will direct you to the block it is using, and select that.
If you are lost, look at examples from good levels creators out there. btw If you are lazy and don't want to go through levels for inspiration, you can still search 'gd decoration' and tutorials will instantly pop up. Learn to make a level and you will be better!
Level judges, move to NI?
