A *long* while ago, GD got hacked. I changed my password, but made it too complex and didn't remember it properly, and locked myself out. Upon trying to recover my password, I found out that my account was tied to an older email, which has been *deleted*. Gmail doesn't allow the recovery of emails like that, I can't remember my password, and contacting RobTop gave no response. So I had no hope of recovering it, apart from one detail.
I was still logged in on my computer. The moment I log out, I lose my account forever. How absurd.
Now, looking into the two files in the GeometryDash folder, I have a reason to believe my login credentials are stored inside the file, but I have zero way of reading it, as it is encrypted. If anyone has any information that can lead me to being able to find my password inside the local file, or any way I can get help in my situation, it would be more than appreciated.

getting a public answer on how to unencrypt things like login credentials is dangerous so allow me to provide a workaround. it starts by keeping those files in the gd folder s a f e . second off i assume you have dropbox. if not, get it and install it. to your desktop, don't just use the web app. then put your save files in there (preferably a new folder each time) for every time you need to transfer files from computer to computer (which i had to do a lot. the date modified is the same due to me moving where dropbox was on my pc) and put it in the appropriate place on whatever pc you're on right now. won't work on ios devices. there's prob some android workaround |

Workaround does sound like it'll work! If all else fails I'll give that a shot. I'm happy to say that after over four years, I got in contact with a Geometry Dash Moderator and have recovered my account.
I now go by ekisacik.

Hello, like you, I lost my gd account for about 4 years  I've been trying to get it back for a long time, I've sent emails to robtop and tried to talk to moderators but no one could help me and robtop didn't answer me I wanted to know if Could you help me get it back, I have too much evidence to show that the account I want to recover is mine and I have no problem showing it please help me, I feel desperate |

I stopped playing for studies and when I wanted to go back I no longer remembered the password or the email, since that information was not used during my absence. I know I was careless not to write them down but at the time I didn't think It would hurt me a lot to lose the account since it is literally all my adolescence, and at the time I passed levels that for me were great achievements: '( If anyone can help me I would appreciate it infinitely, it is not nice to spend a whole day trying to remember a password or an email and I have really had a hard time because of that |
