I have suggested this idea before, but I really think it could be implemeted.
If you've ever played osu, you might know that every time you play a map, the game records a log of when you pressed, how long you pressed, and the position of your mouse at any given time. When you fail, or beat a level, you can watch a replay of how you played. The game takes that log, and it simulates playing the level exactly how you played it.
I was thinking, this could be done for GD too. And it would be MUCH simpler, as it would only require recording when you tapped and for how long (and 2 player mode if that's the case). The game would keep this log every time you played a level (and it would not cause lag, as its just detecting when you tap), and when you fail or finish a level, you can watch the replay where the game would simulate your play.
This would be especially useful when verifying levels. If you verified a level, the log also gets published with it. A button shows up on the level's page (maybe this could be toggled by the creator) where you can watch the level being auto-completed the same way the creator did it. It would be super useful for people who can't record videos of their levels, and it would also be used to spot secret ways in levels. If a creator verified a level using a secret way, it would be visible when the game plays it back.

i think this would be especially useful since everyplay shut down and mobile players have a hard time recording well

I like the idea being used with verifying levels, would help a lot with finding secret ways. Nice idea

rob needs faster and more secure servers as hackers could potentially replace replays or eventually remove them if it's implemented in game

I know this might not be the most appropriate place to say this, but one really cool aspect of Osu! that could be implemented into GD's servers is it's fail chart. If you go to any beatmap on Osu!'s website you can see where people fail most often and I would love to see that in GD. I love statistics and it would be interesting to see where the majority of people die and could actually improve level design if a creator were to update it. For example, if a creator sees lots of people dying at a part it could be a bug or a hard to see spike or something restricting the player from reaching peak enjoyability of the level! Just a thought

this can cause problems whith different refresh rates in osu plays made on 144hz monitors for example are inconsistent when played on 60hz (mostly just slight differences in accuracy, like getting 100 instead of 300 on a few notes)

It's pretty much impossible, because even a small lag while playing or while replaying will cause a desync. Also it's basically GDBot.
