I know this has been suggested before but I feel like I have a different approach to this.
If you didn't know, there is a series of games known as Trackmania. It's an extremely fun arcade racer which is mostly about getting the fastest time on the track instead of having races. If you want to know more you should go here: store.steampowered.com/app/11020/TrackMania_Nations_Forever/ (the free version of Trackmania which is a great starting point for new players). In this game there's a very nifty text formatting system (for talking online and display names) which might come in handy for Geometry Dash comment sections and profiles. I'll try to explain it to the best of my ability but if you still don't understand I'll post a link to the official guide for it.
How text formatting works in Trackmania:
When you type in Trackmania, you can use some command symbols to customize the text. They also start with "$" and are quite simple to use. I'll list off a few here.
$w - Wide text
$n - Narrow text
$o - Bold
$i - Italic
These are the main commands for stylizing text.
There are also colour codes, which use 3-letter hexadecimal to add colour to text. They also use the "$" sign.
Here's a little sheet with most of the colour codes.
