When playing on mobile, Geometry Dash’s frame rate can sometimes rapidly drop to 10-15fps, making playing levels a really awful experience. It usually happens when I switch applications then switch back to GD, but that’s all I know about it. I would really appreciate some help! Thanks CakePlaysGames

Are you still having the issue? If you are then could you tell me which type of device you have?

Could be the device that you’re playing on. From my experience, the game runs pretty poorly on Android devices. As for Apple devices, anything older than a 5th generation device will have issues running newer levels which have become increasingly trigger dependant and object heavy. I also find that if I have a lot of crap downloaded (like too many songs or copyables) that the game tends to perform poorly so that’s something to look into as well. Frames will still tank sometimes and I feel your struggle, as a fellow mobile player it sucks not being able to run levels at full detail all the time. Enabling smooth fix in options will help alleviate the negative aspects of lag since it’ll almost be like you’re playing with a speed hack on (it won’t be as stuttery).

Try enabling Smooth Fix and Force Smooth Fix. I have it enabled on my iPhone and I'm able to switch to other apps and back to GD pretty fine.
Also quick thing, are you switching apps while still playing the level or are you in the level selection interface or something? If the former, then it's probably best not to do that, since it can off-sync the game. If the latter, then maybe wait a few seconds before selecting a level so the game can catch up.

Sadly, I’ve noticed it can happen at any time. When I first start up GD, when switching levels, when playing a laggy level, and so on. I realised Smooth Fix and Force Smooth Fix are both off, so I’ve tried turning both of them on. I’ll update this thread later to see how I go...thanks Dragon

If the game speed becomes really inconsistent after enabling both, I suggest disabling Force Smooth Fix while keeping the regular Smooth Fix option on.

Just noticed that now, it looks like the game is really slow-moving and the music isn’t syncing with all the levels I play :/ I’ll turn off Force Smooth Fix

My first update! Honesty things over the last few weeks haven’t improved. With Smooth Fix on, the gameplay becomes unbelievably slow but smooth. Without Smooth Fix, the gameplay speed is normal but the frame rate becomes the same as it was a few weeks ago.
So it’s pretty much this.
Smooth Fix OFF: Normal speed Poor frame rate
Smooth Fix ON: Unusual speed Smooth

Try pressing the restart button when Smooth Fix is enabled.
You can enable the restart button in the options somewhere.

It’s been a while now... but there’s been no improvement. Restarting doesn’t work for me, unfortunately...
