I am experiencing this bug on many levels and I don't know how to fix it.
I am 72hz and it is making it impossible to play some levels.

I feel like this is a problem with the monitor's refresh rate.
It is known that the game does not render properly at frame rates which are not divisible by 30 (in your case, its 72Hz).
I suggest maybe turning on or off Smooth Fix and Vertical Sync and see if it works.
If not, try changing the frame rate of your monitor into 60Hz instead of 72Hz.

Vertical Sync seems to be the problem but the only thing is when I turn it off I experience major lag  |

i've had this problem too on higher hz being at 120 and 144, basically if you have too much lag at some points, any moving object can jolt you into that direction. downwards is fine, but if the object is moving upwards it basically cannons you into the air.
tl;dr: it's a lag issue on higher hz.
