So I recently released n e o n d r e a m s in a beta version, and I really need advice to make it as good as possible. If you guys could leave a good, honest review of the level and give some constructive criticism, it would mean a lot <3 Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkKoHfyApQc&feature=youtu.beID: 43301714

Hey, Stopstart! First of all want to say how glad I am that you seem excited and willing to be judged, helps me be as honest as possible! Let's get on with the review:
Sync/Gameplay: Let's start with Sync. While I love the song, I can tell just by listening to it and not looking at your level that it would be really hard to sync properly. But I must say, you really did a good job with this! Your only main issue I found with sync is sometimes it felt forced, such as right at the beginning of the level from around 5-10%. Instead of trying to switch backgrounds so many times to sync up, maybe try syncing up your gameplay more or using some air deco and making that pulse with the beat! For Sync I'll give a 4/5, some minor flaws but overall a really good job for a more difficult song to sync. Alright, next is gameplay. Playing this level was definitely fun, but I found myself missing orbs and falling upside-down to my death. This frustrates players having to wait to die. Maybe try adding either custom spikes, either ground or the spinning ones, or just make invisible spikes so the player does not have to wait to respawn. While playing your level, I also noticed that you don't have too much jumping going on-it's a lot of orbs. This isn't too bad, but usually I like seeing a balance between orbs and clicks/jumps. Because you used so many orbs, certain timings I found to be a tad difficult depending on how early/late I should be hitting every single orb. It gets a little tedious! One part you do really well regarding balance is the cube at 20%. I would have just spread out those orbs so there were less at the end of that section. For Gameplay I'll give a 3/5 as well, falling upside down for a long time before respawning and excessive use of orbs in certain spots let me down, however certain sections held their ground very well! Overall Grade: 7/10 - Good with some easy fixes!
Block Structures and Decorations: Let's start with Block Structures. From 0%-10% is where we should focus. In the first couple %'s, you have a lot of slopes. This is fine, but using more variety could really help. Remember, you don't need the player to actually touch every structure, they just have to see it for the most part! Adding more varied block structure with spikes on it would make that section feel a lot less empty. This tip can also be used towards the last couple %'s, where it's really just spikes. If there's one rule I'd follow by, it's that there should always be at least 1-2 structures on the screen at all times! You have pretty good structures in the rest of the parts of your level, however they get a little repetitive in the wave sections. Also, make sure during transitions that no blocks are simply "cut-off" while going through portals! For Block Structures I'll give a 2/5, more varied structures and more structures in general will improve your score! Next, let's check Block Decorations/Design. You get better at it throughout the level. The beginning to 15% are difficult to design because they are slopes! I would also say that the slopes you chose do not mix well with your background. Try experimenting with colored blocks and placing them on a very low opacity so that your custom background remains the main focus. By using black, yes, you do see the blocks, but it makes the background pop a LOT less. The rest is actually very good! A lot of your design does not mix very well, however. I love each of them separately, especially the UFO, but together they seem more than just random. I love the city vibe I got from 15% to 35%, it looked really chill and amazing! With the wave parts, you got a little TOO repetitive. I would've liked to see the block you use when you slow down at ~55% to be used throughout that section, along with other variants with that design. For Block Decorations/Design I'll give a 3/5, the designs were really awesome to look at, however you fell short with repetitiveness and themes. Overall Grade: 5/10 - Decent with some easy fixes and some major fixes!
Air Decorations/Custom Backgrounds: Let's start with Custom Backgrounds. You did a really great job here! I especially LOVE the effect at 43%! Not only is it synced really well, but it's really satisfying to watch it! Using the move trigger on custom backgrounds can be really helpful and could have been used in your cube part at 20%. The opacity could also have been turned down to around .70%, as even when custom backgrounds are your main focus, you still do not want to distract players from what is a block and what isn't. A good example is the wave part around 60%. Those blocks in the background are a very minor detail, put them lower opacity to make them appear as if they are farther away! Your cube/wave effect at the end of the level starting around 70% is really cool! No real complaints there! My problem with your backgrounds is when you went too far with them in the beginning. You tried syncing backgrounds, and as I said before, it's possible, but it makes the level feel cluttered in that too much is happening! I would have just stuck to one background instead of constantly switching them in the beginning. For Custom Backgrounds I'll give a 4/5, the designs were original and appealing to the eye, just simple opacity fix and not going too overboard with them would make you score higher! Air Decorations is the last subject. Around 8% you included some really nice looking artwork! Although they looked nice, they didn't exactly fit your level too much. Also, the way the Link came in behind the blocks could look better if the layer was changed to be above them. When it came to arrows, they were pretty simple, which is fine. Arrows are a huge factor when I create, but I understand in effect-type levels they are much less important. I love the glow on the orbs in the first half of the level, however adding a few more decorations to them would have been nice, such as a spinning object. The entire level does not have too much air decorations, but I felt like it didn't need too many. You have a nice balance of air decorations in the final section of the level. However it got a tad repetitive as you went through the wave section. For Air Decorations I'll give a 2/5, the designs were not original and got repetitive in certain parts, however they were spaced decently and the colors were not too bad. Overall Grade: 6/10 - Decent with some easy fixes!
Okay Final Score Time!
Sync/Gameplay: 7/10 Block Structures and Designs/Decorations: 5/10 Air Decorations/Custom Backgrounds: 6/10
Total Score: 18/30 -> A decent effect level
