If you post on one of your OWN old posts, is it considered necroposting? Just wanted to ask before trying it so I don't risk getting banned.

If you mean lists, you should be fine to update them and post the update, since necroposts don’t count on lists as long as you’re adding something to the list and it’s relevant. If it’s something else though, I would advise against it.

first off, you won't get banned straight away you'll just either be warned depending on how severe the necro post is. going onto a thread thats on the last page of a section and purposely necroposting, can get you a HUGE warn. however there are times where it's okay. lists as stated by dragon are fine, guides when you discover a new strats etc... are fine. OR something is worthy and relevant enough to be necroposted on aka lets say suddenly an old level was found to be hacked, you could find a thread about that and post an update that it was hacked. but if it's a necro just to bump your own thread, just make a new thread please. And finally, if you actually show me what you want to post on, i can letcha know whether it's fine or not

since this isn’t moved to resolved yet I might as well throw this into the mix since I’ve been wondering about this as well. if I post on a stickied thread outside NL that hasn’t had activity for over 2 months, is it acceptable?

On Stickied or Falling Threads, necroposting is generally not a big deal. Since the threads are always going to be at the top or bottom of their boards, respectively, it is fine to necropost in there for as long as you have something to contribute to the thread, like a question or a new aspect for discussion as I could imagine in stickied threads. Basically, the same rules apply, but are more lenient because people won't suddenly see a topic that's been dead for months plop up at the top of the board again.

Everything Locky and Timelink said is true.
I suppose the question has been answered, so I'll move to Resolved.
