Petrolheads are getting triggered lmao Heya, recently this new concept was announced for the new fastest electric car in the world, as well as the fastest car in general. It accelerates from 0-100 kmh (0-62.1 mph) in only 1.9 seconds, as well as the top speed is likely to be over 400 kmh (250 mph) This kind of relieves me, considering at first 90% of the fastest cars ran on petrol, with only the Tesla Model S P100D having a fairly decent acceleration, as well as the Koenigsegg Regera (actually that's a hybrid xd) having a high topspeed. I like this concept, it shows that we still can have fast cars in the future, although many questions come with it, because.. you know, electric cars run on a battery, which can overheat and stuff. Plus, for an electric engine this is a very, very high topspeed. The only sad part is that the petrolheads act like everyone who likes it is retarded, and they say the points are wrong bla bla bla bla.. But that doesn't make it bad imo. What are your opinions?

As a massive petrolhead myself I am so glad somebody has made this thread. That being said, take the term "petrolhead" lightly as not all die-hard car fanatics are completely against electric cars. I really like them and I am considering one for my next car (maybe a Leaf, got to be realistic here)
I am personally a huge fan, I got a chance to have a full detailed tour of the Model S and Model X and I have to say they are truly remarkable cars. Admittedly, for the price, the quality is a bit iffy but I expect that of a start-up company. The feel of instantaneous acceleration is something that just seems out of this world. Especially considering I had only ever driven turbodiesel engines up to that point (current owner of a 2016 Ford Focus 1.5 TDCI), meaning you have a delay for the engine and then another for the turbo. Press and go, it's brilliant.
The Roadster is truly promising, but Tesla really needs to try harder to commit to release dates. The Model 3 is great for the price but still not widely available. I'd say the Roadster won't be ready completely until 2020. 200 kWh battery and that much power packaged into a small body is a recipe for disaster without the correct engineering - something I don't doubt they will achieve but something that will take a lot of time. I'll never be able to afford, but the figures surely sound promising, and I don't doubt it truly can pull it off.
P.S: Can we have more car-related threads pls!

Can we have more car-related threads pls! I'd like to, but I'm not sure if it's suitable for the GDforums to do it multiple times. Also, pretty good story you wrote! Good to see I'm not the only "car addict" here.

Meh... this isn't the GD-related part of the forum anyway so it doesn't really matter but at the same time if nobody is interested in the topic there is no point posting. But yeah, certainly nice to see others interested in the subject. Maybe a general car-related thread (news/discussion)?

Looks hot, I rate that shit. Though, if there was a car that looked exactly like that, had the same price, but ran on petrol, I'd buy that rather than the electric car, I just hate the quietness of electric cars, don't even care that much about environment, it's too far to turn back and change how we've affected the world.

It's interesting that you bring up this statement actually. Electric cars aren't necessarily helping the environment due to the huge carbon footprint producing an electric car has in comparison to a conventional one. On top of this, numerous countries that have very little invested into renewable energies are producing electricity with outdated, high carbon output methods, meaning the electricity you use isn't really helping the environment at all, such as the USA. Norway, for example, is the home of electric cars because nearly all is from hydroelectric power and they have so much money invested into renewable energy and the infrastructure for electric cars, as well as tax rebates etc. that it makes ownership of electric cars truly appealing. And I must admit, the silence is eery and I'd much prefer the roar, rumble, and crackle of a generous sized V8 under the bonnet as well
