So I have this bug where the further I get on a level in practice mode, the more the spawning time starts lagging, and it eventually becomes unplayable and just kills me immediately. Since I'm hosting and possibly verifying a 40 minute long collab this could be a problem when I'm trying to practice the level. This also happens with start positions but I think that's a common bug; I haven't heard of this happening with practice mode to anyone before though. I have a 2015 macbook pro with 8 gigabytes of ram and an 2.7 GHz i5. Help?

This is not a new bug. Think of each checkpoint like a start position, it has to load all past triggers and objects at the same time. I’m sorry, but there isn’t anything you can do.

Well, don’t mean to sound like an asshole but you need a very strong computer to play GD. This is in part due to not only the high amount of graphics but also RobTop’s ineptitude in coding the game in order to reduce lag. So, in short, get a better computer.

Yeah, the start pos/checkpoints are pretty buggy in 2.1 and they can lag a lot on object heavy levels. For example I had to practice B on a copyable because the effects and backgrounds were lagging my PC so much (without LDM) that my icon kept respawning in death.

Yeah, the start pos/checkpoints are pretty buggy in 2.1 and they can lag a lot on object heavy levels. For example I had to practice B on a copyable because the effects and backgrounds were lagging my PC so much (without LDM) that my icon kept respawning in death. Practicing on copyables doesn't help for me, it lags just as much

Practicing on copyables doesn't help for me, it lags just as much Try removing the parts before the spot you want to practice. I might reduce the lag because the game will load less tiles.

Try pausing the level every time you die. This could possibly reduce the problem/help you control when you are ready to respawn, but it can be annoying to have to pause after each attempt, especially for pretty hard levels.
I would also recommend deleting all the decoration objects when practicing on a copyable to reduce the lag. It could even help you practice better overall without the distractions.

As said before, delete the objects besides the gameplay. Also, try using LDM if the levek has one. If all else fails, mess with the checkboxes in options.

this is just a fuckup on rob's side, its been like this since 2.1 came out.

I think at this point, the thread's question has been answered.
Q: Why is there ridiculous lag in Practice Mode? A: It's a fuckup on RobTop's part.
Q: How do I fix it? A: You can't, you have to wait for the next update, which RobTop confirmed is actually finished, so it shouldn't be much longer.
