Hello, my kids have been playing Geometry dash on android tablets and creating their own levels. They did not know there was an option to create an account because the game never prompted them to do so but it saved their levels and progress nonetheless, and when they went back into the game it was all there. Then my son went into the game and started crying because it had lost all his progress and the levels he created. Why did it save data before and then stop? Is there any way of getting this data back? It must have been saving somewhere on the tablet....
Also, my daughters are now worried about the same thing happening to them. If they create an account now will it save the progress and levels they currently have, or will it reset to the start? Thanks for any help you can give

I’m sorry but it might be impossible to get your son’s data back, RobTop’s servers aren’t exactly the most stable. I would create an account asap.
For your daughters, I forgot what happens if you create an account, but it’s good to create an account nonetheless. Creating an account gives you the ability to save and load progress. Depending how far they are, it could be quite easy to get back to where they are currently.

If you, sorry.. *cough* Your daughter, has less than 200 stars and no demons beaten, should be fine to redo all progress.
But for level creation, if you.. *cough* Again, your daughter, makes levels without decor, also, should be easy to recreate.
But, remember to always make an account because it's important. Because it can backup progress by saving.
Note : If your daughter makes an account, other players can see the stats and level your daughter currently has by finding the username.

An account is an extra security just in case if the game crashes or it gets removed, so players can easily load their data from the cloud and transfer them between devices. Not sure if it's possible to revert the lost data but as long as there wasn't much done, I guess it can be easily rebeaten.
I honestly recommend making backup files of your save data, however I am not sure how does it work on mobile devices. This thing is actually easier on PC.

Terribly sorry to say that their data is (most likely, that is) lost. Reason is, on tablets/phones, the data is saved in hidden folders, etc, which cannot be accessed through regular means. On the Steam version, this is far easier as you can take backups of the files. May have been a loss for your kids but they have no other way of getting it back, sadly.
However, I'd strongly recommend you to make an account for your children if they desire to keep their data safe across devices. This way they can play even if they get a new unit. They won't lose any progress by doing such.

Thanks for the advice, I will get them all to set up an account then.
Bit - I wish I had time to play games, it really is my kids who play this :-) Also if I had time I would play a decent game like Tetris....(showing my age now)
