(First of all, if you for some reason see this thread being duplicated, that is because i accidentally pressed done instead of backspace which caused my thread to already be made. I deleted the op and the thread also disappeared. Whatever, let's get on topic.) I see way too many people necroposting on threads and it kind of starts to annoy me. I mean, it's irrelevant, especially for staff, when random old threads pop up which probably already have become useless at that moment. Now I am not sure if this is going to work, but around two weeks ago, TimeLink explained me about the 'Falling' option. According to TimeLink, falling means the thread can no longer be bumped (if I got it correctly ). Therefor, I think threads that haven't been active for X months or X pages should automatically have falling enabled. If falling has nothing to do with this, in my opinion a new option should be created. This will prevent from old threads to randomly resurface, due to a new member/guest who decided not to read the rules. So yeah, for now that's all I have to say. Special thanks to TimeLink for explaining me about the 'Falling' by the way.

Err, yeah. While obviously you have the right idea in mind, an automatic system like this wouldn't be a particularly great idea for one reason. And that's relevant necroposts. By the definition, a necropost is " A reply to a thread more than two months old that does not contribute anything new or relevant to the topic." Of course it's quite a rare scenario, but it has happened that for example someone made a thread with a list of update leaks and such, after two months Rob announces something new and the thread can be revived and make for interesting discussion again. That works with just about any topic, albeit it not being too common. An automatic system for setting a falling flag would prevent reviving threads in that manner, as the thread could no longer be bumped on top and an artifical intelligence would have no way distinguishing between a useless and a constructive necropost either. So essentially, while it can be annyoing to see unnecessarily necroposted threads, the staff try to get those archived or deleted quickly when they show up and I don't think this would be a great thing to implement. Still, your effort is appreciated.

Yup it's not like anyone will take advantage of this by spamming porn and such in threads knowing they won't be bumped or anything
