Hey everyone, we haven't posted here on the Geometry Dash forums in a long time so we decided to finally update you guys on what's going on. Before we talk about multiplayer let's re-introduce ourselves.
We are Geometry Dash Online, the left over scraps of our previous name, Geometry Dash League. In our new name we plan on engaging with the rest of the Geometry Dash Community and creating things for you guys to enjoy. We our mostly known as of now for the Geometry Dash Multiplayer project which we are going to talk about now.
So we planned on releasing multiplayer on the 31st of August but as you can see it is currently the 6th of September at the time of us typing this thread post and here we are with no multiplayer. Let's talk about what's happening and explaining multiplayer some more. Keep in mind that this is unofficial and our Geometry Dash Multiplayer project and Geometry Dash Online isn't associated with RobTopGames whatsoever.
Geometry Dash Multiplayer is going to be a companion application to the Geometry Dash application. This meaning that you'll need both Geometry Dash and the multiplayer companion to be running in order to work. You pick two modes, casual or competitive and you'll enter matchmaking, from there you'll be matched up with a random player and you'll both be given a level (difficulty depending on your division placement) which will more than likely be a demon within competitive. The goal is beat the level given before your opponent does before the timer runs out. If the timer runs out and neither of you have beaten the level, the winner will be chosen by highest percentage. If both percentages are the same it will be a tie.
In terms of the user interface you'll be greeted with a sharp looking menu thanks to our graphic designers. In this menu contains your demon count from easy to extreme. Your division badge (rank placement) and this is also where you can choose between casual and competitive, plus, some settings you can tweak to your liking.
We are working with our developers to get this ready this year but RobTop got in our way. Since 2.11 is planned to release soon we will have to wait until then and tweak some code to make multiplayer work best with the 2.11 update. This is why are planned release was pushed back. Due to this we are unsure when multiplayer release but trust us when we say our devs our working hard to make multiplayer the best is can be on launch.
To say sorry for letting you guys down I'm excited to announce that we will be hosting a public beta for the whole community. We want to give you guys early hands-on with Multiplayer and the data and feedback collected will help shape its release. Make sure you're followed to our social media for more information about to beta coming soon.
We're also excited to say that our website is up so click here to visit it.
Make sure to go there and sign up as well as go download our official launcher you'll need for when multiplayer releases.
Thank you all for sticking with us for so long, your support means so much to us and if it wasn't for the community this project would have never happened.
Multiplayer isn't that far ahead so stay tuned for more updates!
