sure there are really good artist that aren't approved but you still have at least 10,000 good songs that would work in a gd level. it's not that hard to actually find a good song on newgrounds, but people are lazy and just use popular artists songs. it'd be nice to actually have an original song that i've never heard of in a featured level for once. That's the main problem here tho, I enjoy searching through all Newgrounds for unique / good tracks, but when I actually find an original one I can't even use it I feel as if I'll just end up using the song as ID 1 and just tell people playing the level that they gotta switch the song like in some of Endlevel's Bo Burnham songs and such if you search the newly released audio then you'll find unapproved songs, that's why you have to go to some pages back where every artist is approved. i'm pretty sure that ids below 700000 are all approved

It's a good compromise, but I feel like there needs to be some form of implementation for the Newgrounds moderators to approve artists for the game, since as it stands, most would agree it's hard to get Rob himself to notice even a level in his own game, rather than an artist on an external website purely so people could *potentially* use their work for levels in his game. That being said, Geometry Dash and its' community have gained a pretty low reputation for a lot of Newgrounds as we saw back in January, so for one, I can imagine they would just refuse to involve themselves with it, and I can also see it just bringing them an even larger onslaught of children harassing them for artists to be approved.
Other than that, I feel like we shouldn't put the system at any fault. If you think about it, it really works just fine in an ideal situation. In a case where someone wants to use a song from an artist that's not approved on Newgrounds for a level that would definitely be reputable, they could use a placeholder mp3 to make and showcase the level, and when it gains notoriety to a point where the level would get featured, Rob can check in and approve the artist. All other cases will fall flat in some regard: The artist wouldn't want their song used, the creators wouldn't follow through in finishing their levels, or the levels simply won't be good enough for them to even be necessary (at least in a systematic sense.)
In other words, if they're not approved but you know they're legitimate and they'd be okay with your level, just go for it, and if it's good enough for Rob to notice it, he'll have to make notice of the artist too.
