Intro: FINALLY BACK WOOHOO. "Awesome Art Level". I'm seriously in so much anticipation that I almost can't breathe. No joke.
Volt-o-Meter System: USFE Level Name: Rainbow Sunrise Creator(s): ItsMagMa Level ID: 35963767 Song: Canonblade - Gg Wp (Bronze Edition) by canonblade [ID: 724081] Requested Difficulty: 6* Simplified System: U -> S -> F -> E, or reverse alphabetical order . I manually decide which board this level should go in. It's not determined by the letters. For more information on the exact rating system, go to this page.Gameplay- 0-9%: The Cube gameplay is very simple and smooth, requiring a few jumps with some added jump orbs. There's nothing too out of the ordinary here, probably because it's the intro of the level, but there's nothing to hate this part for. S
- 10-19%: The Mini UFO gameplay is pretty decent. Not very exciting, which is particularly disappointing at a mini drop, but I won't call it horrible because you clearly play-tested this level and fixed some of the potential bugs there could've been. S
- 20-28%: Good thing you added a Low Detail Mode here, or else I would've been screwed. The Mini Ship gameplay has lots of really tight spaces, which I guess is good for a 6-star level, but it's not very entertaining. It's not annoying, though, so I can't give it a U. S
- 29-42%: Well this is...better. Still not good enough for an F, though. The Wave part is alright, but it's a pretty slow paced gameplay at a drop. Also, in the UFO-Ship part, I could probably use literally any vehicle and still get past that part. S
- 43-48%: This one section of the gameplay is a lot more creative than the other parts. If this level had an easier requested difficulty, I would like it a lot more. Maybe even enough to give it an E. It's still pretty fun, slow gameplay nonetheless. At least for like 5% of the level. F
- 51-68%: Alright gameplay. It's better than the first Mini UFO section, but still not enough for an F. There's a little bit more coherence, plus the Wave part is pretty nicely done. S
- 70-89%: It's alright gameplay. It's pretty good, actually, for a slow part of a level. F
Transitions- 8-9%: Simple blue jump pads. This transition requires some pretty decent reflexes, but it's not sudden. It's a smooth transition as well. F
- 28-30%, 68-70%: This part is literally just a screen on hold. There's no fade to black or title card or anything. This transition isn't sudden, but it's the most boring thing possible: nothing. Have something there, like some jump pads, or a title card. U
- 45-47%: This is actually a pretty cool Ball transition. I like how smooth, fun, and short it is, even if there aren't too many taps. F
- 49-51%: Same thing as the first transition. Simple jump pads, but pink this time. Decent reflexes are needed, but there's still plenty of reaction time given. F
Synchronization- 0-9%: The synchronization is not perfect here. There are some parts I wish would have been better, like the first high note in the song, but it's pretty good. F
- 10-28%, 51-69%: The only thing that even remotely syncs well to the song is the background. I guess the UFO gameplay sync is alright for both sections, and the Wave section, but they're just done pretty poorly. U
- 29-42%: Not great sync. I don't really like it too much. This time, not even the background syncs. It's just really...eh. Not good. It's not easy to provide tips for synchronization, keep in mind. U
- 43-48%: The sync is a little bit better here. This time, there was clear attempt at good sync. Cube parts are your strength. S
- 70-89%: Decent sync. The simple gameplay contributes to the sync here. S
Colors- 0-9%: Very commonly used white background with rainbow block designs. It's not very special, but it's not done badly either. They might be simple, but they're pretty good and well done. A word of advice would be to make the colors slowly change. F
- 10-28%: The colors are decent. There's some variation with the colors changing every now and then, but not too much. The only thing I don't like is it's hard to see the spikes with the color changes that are the exact same color as the background. S
- 29-48%, 61-68%: The colors are honestly pretty disgusting here. Light gray and rainbow. No blending whatsoever. No mid-gameplay color changes. It's a pretty big eye-sore to look at here. U
- 51-60%: It's really similar to the first Mini UFO section, but at least you were smart enough to not put spikes of the same color as the BG this time. S
- 70-94%: Literally nothing except black and white. This would look okay in some levels, but definitely not this one. That being said, the colors in the dedications list looks out of place, being literally the only blending color in the entire level. U
- 95-100%: Good colors. The black and white with rainbow aren't used very commonly, and it looks pretty nice. But this is just the colors. F
Decoration- 0-9%: Wow, this level is really empty. The background is the only thing that keeps me from giving this a U. If it wasn't for that, this level would've been really hard to look at. The only real decorations in this level are the background and the rainbow saw-blades. As for the art so far, there really isn't any other than the jump pads and orbs. They're not done very well, though. For the jump pads, it would be better if the small squares in the air moved up slowly and vanished. Also, be sure to pay attention to continuity. Put some blocks before the start by using a Move Trigger. S
- 10-28%, 51-68%: The block designs are really the only decoration here. This time, I can't even give it an S because it just looks so boring...add more decoration to this section. I will talk about the background in the Effects tab. U
- 29-48%: Based off of my knowledge of levels, I'm going to take a gamble and say this background was inspired by Frontline Full by God Of Music. It's not bad, but the colors make it really irritating to look at. I would give this an S because this isn't the Colors category, but there's still such a desperate need of block designs. It still looks devastatingly empty with no decoration other than the background. Not even block designs. U
- 70-89%: Well at least you finally have block designs. But.......now you only have block designs. Is this some kind of exchange system or something? U
- 90-94%: This dedications list looks really out of place, especially the color and the Z layer. It's not scoring worthy, but I just figured I'd let you know. Unscorable
- 95-100%: Technically, this is the only actual art in the level, so it better be good. It's not, really. Just colors with background. The Z Layering annoys me deeply. U
Effects- 0-9%: The effects in this level don't stand out very well. They're either extremely unnoticeable, or they're so minor that they don't even contribute to the level. They're not done badly, but they're certainly not the best either. The effects should stand out more than just a slowly moving square background and moving lines. S
- 10-28%, 51-68%: I understand what this background is supposed to be, but it's just done really poorly. The main problem is that it looks so choppy and rushed. It just doesn't feel very natural, which is a real drag. U
Yes, these are the only actual 'effects' in the level. Final Thoughts ScoreNeeds Improvement: - There is very little art in this level, and this level is overly repetitive with very little variation.
This is my first time using the new Volt-o-Meter System, so if there's anything I screwed up, feel free to let me know. @repeater13 It's been long past two weeks. This thread was made back in July.
