Since some may know me because of this topic, I want to see some actual critics and opinions about HOW and HOW MUCH hacks for GD influence this game as a whole.
Talking just about the client hacks (Cheats), no account hacking or stuff like that.

Honestly I think hacks are a pretty big chunk of the game; without them the community would be pretty different. This isn't a bad thing though, as some hacks are pretty useful. A certain few good hacks include - - Noclip hacks (beneficial for playing difficult levels with ease for showcase reasons)
- Song bypass hacks (useful for changing and switching around certain songs easily)
- Texture editor hacks (makes developing texture packs a bit more user friendly)
- Streamer tool hacks (makes streaming GD a lot easier obviously)
- Object bypass hacks (benefits some certain creators out a lot due to the object limit being increased)
Imagine what the community would be like now if these hacks never existed.

They are the reason the leaderboards are a mess right now.
Some people use No-Clip just to "star grind" and shred their way through the leaderboards :r

it depends on if the player admits to using it and what hack it is.
of course, speedhacks and noclip can be useful for showcasing, but speedhackers can also hack extreme demons or insane demons while they keep on saying it is legitimate.
i am glad speedhacking becomes visible and stuff, because if it never was detected by people we would still have a different community.
i am honestly getting sick of people complaining about noclip. this happens too much, and also without any reasons.(eg. "noclip om6 but gg") as long as it is used for showcasing and not hacking demons or other levels, or hack-verifying, there is no such problem with that
i think the community would be different by a lot without these hacks, as if speedhacks would never exist AND noclip would never exist, every good player good be assumed being legitimate. besides, how would they hack levels without those hacks?

They have their good and bad sides like most stuff, depends how someone uses them. Stuff like noclip or speedhacks may be good for creating montages of difficult levels but some people use them to farm stars or demons in a cheap way which may make the leaderboard look like a mess. Some other hacks including object bypass or other editor hacks (allowing people to have more custom objects, higher scales, etc.) are also good because they can be used for building and they don't harm anyone (unless a level lags but there's LDM for a reason  ) and they can be used in a creative way to make nice levels. So yeah, hacks can be used both in a good and a bad way. |

Something that hasn't been posted that can happen is that the server will be clogged with GD is dying levels full of "stop hax stop hax hax are bad they destroy game like gee dee"
I think everything else has been said by the posts above me :/

personally,i hate them. they're the thing which dragged me through hell and back.
but im not saying they're entirely to blame,im just saying: if they weren't there,i wouldn't have ended up hacking.
i'd say they've done alot though,since without it we wouldn't have things like death moon.

Without hacks icdx and cata wouldnt exist, and they really paved the way for more extreme demons to come sooooo

Even if people like you didn't come up with the hacks, some other guy would have most likely still hacked GD, realizing how insecure the server and database is.
Also the third party hacks... I hate them, many people has abused this kind of cheat to gain unfair advantages, like No clip, speed hacking and more options for creating.
None of these is ok in my opinion and it's gotten so big, that many people don't care, as long as they say it.
IN LITERALLY ANY OTHER GAME, SAYING YOU ARE HACKING IS LIKE A DEATH WISH.
I have never been a supporter of hacks and no one should be.

If hacks didn't exist, levels like Cataclysm and ICDX wouldn't exist either.
This means that future Extreme Demons wouldn't exist because they were mostly the first ever extreme demons.
Nobody would have been an extremely good player by now if it wasn't for Extreme Demons. Nobody would even think that extremely hard demons are possible in the first place.
