Level Name: Blank Creator: DerpyBoy Level ID: 31932556 Difficulty Requested: 5-7 Stars (Hard-Harder) Song: Highscore by PandaEyesOfficial Song ID: 657019
Gameplay - 8/33 So, let's start off with the positives. One of the best parts about the gameplay is the use of vehicles. I think the amount of vehicles used in a level really shows that a creator knows how to create gameplay with other vehicles and can learn and become better by using vehicles. If I am not mistaken, every vehicle was used in the level and there was a usage of a few mini portals which is very good gameplay. The transitions in this level aren't awful which is pretty good. Lots of people hate buggy transitions, and I didn't have a problem with this level which is a good thing. Now, onto the negatives. To begin, the gameplay in general is very awkward and unpredictable. Your asking for a 5-7 star level, but in a level that is that rating, the player should be able to see what is coming up quickly. This level doesn't do that. It consists of bugs that for the most part are quite annoying and quite obviously there. Next, I need to stress on some parts that I really didn't like. Starting at the beginning of the level, the cube was really weird. It started off okay, but then the cube turned mini and the jumps were quite unusual. The UFO and spaceship are very tight and closed quarters which is a bit of a problem. I feel as if they were too tight. Lastly, in this area the spider was confusing to me and I couldn't understand what was going on because you can click, tap, or whatever you do, and fall inbetween the pillars which is very awkward. The next section I'm afraid doesn't get much better. The rocket design for the ship is the first part. This was really hard to tell what was going on because the objects that kill you look like they are in the background which is NOT a good thing. This is highly needed to be fixed in any future levels. Next, the spaceship and wave are very uncomfortable to play as there is a lot of moving up and down with the ship that isn't gradually, it is holding or not holding. Also, the mini wave is super tight for asking for a level of 5-7 star difficulty. Lastly, the bossfight isn't that great either. It is very unpredictable of what will happen with immediate moving objects in the section. The other issue is you have to get the coin in order to pass through the bossfight for me and there should be an alternate path. At the end of gameplay, I think the biggest issue is how it overall plays. This can be fixed by watching a couple of streams of how people build gameplay in my opinion.
Design - 5/33 Sadly, the hard truth is, I don't have any positives about the design in the level. Don't get upset about this, this only means that you can improve as a creator and there is way more to do in the future. I might have some helpful tips to get you in the right direction. Let's start off with block design. In my opinion, it is okay to have a repetitive block design for maybe one section. However, the same block design is seen throughout the entire level. This does eventually look really boring to a creator, so maybe mix the block designs up every time a player enters a portal that will change vehicles. Next, let's talk about effects. The same thing can be said about effects in this level. At the beginning, the effect is very repetitive and kind of bland. I like the idea, I think it needs to be executed much better. There is some room for improvement in this level for effects. I want to go into your "artsy" section. I mentioned how in gameplay that what seems to be in the background can kill you and that is a problem. You don't want to do this because it is pretty annoying for the player and not only hurts the design, but hurts the gameplay. The rocket ship transition looks (to be honest) really awful. I think the right way to go with these rocket sections is to see how other people are able to build rockets and ask for advice to people who can do artsy things in the editor to go. Finally, the bossfight is a design part which in my opinion doesn't fit anything related to the level. In this level, we have an effect section, a design section, and an art section. My advice is to pick one of those three and go with it because they never look good together. Overall, the work in design could really be improved. Watch other people's streams to figure out how to improve in the editor.
Originality - 6/34 This level actually has one part of originality for me and that happens to be it is a 3-in-1 with the design, art, and effects. However, like I said in the design, it is best to not do this. Maybe if it is done right, this could end up being a lot better. The one thing that I feel that makes this level unoriginal is the fact that it is way too repetitive. I feel like the ideas are good, the way of thinking is good, but they are used in more than 4-5 sections (which means they are repetitive), and they should be in separate levels. On top of this, I see where you are going and I see what you are trying to do, but this isn't going to work. No creator (at least that I know of) has ever pulled this off because even if it looks "similar" it isn't the same. I love the ideas, but I don't think they were properly executed. Executing your ideas after watching those streams will improve you as a creator.
Final Score - 19/100 (Needs Improvement) I understand that this score looks disappointing. I know because I have been here. The one thing that you should understand is to keep trying. When you keep trying, you will eventually figure out some things and from there you will improve as a creator. This may not be the world's best advice, but one way I figured out the editor a little bit more was by building a Nine Circles level. Don't expect that to be a featured level though. I think for you it is the best way to start, then you can realize how the editor works.

I am going to add a little bit of my own thoughts on to traviss' review, althoug he said most there is to say about this level already. However, I still want to point out a couple of things that made this level a bit better than if these things would not be in your level. For example, you had some nice music sync at some parts in the gameplay, or the pulsing of the background in the beginning, or the bossfight attacks (but like traviss said, still try to give a warning or something so that the bossfight attacks dont just pop up!). This way the flow of the level already is better with some music sync . Also, it is good that you used some movement and pulses in your level, it makes your level more interesting than just a static slider. I am talking about the pillars popping up, the rocket launching, how to blocks pulse in the beginning when you touch them etc. But there are also a lot of things that can be improved, which traviss listed above. I will still move this to needs improvement, but you are doing very well already! If your level would be just a bit less messy, I think you can make some good levels . Good luck with your creating, - haastregt
