There has been great speculation in regards to why 2.1 has been removed, the most popular theory being Nintendo flagging Geometry Dash for containing icons/blocks containing elements from Mario games. There are also rumors that the people behind the change.org petition to remove GD from ALL stores (link below) may have something to do with GD being removed. If nintendo really did that just because some blocks are from mario, then they really need to learn to (read) LET THINGS SLIDE! This should have been considered by nintendo before making this decision, as this may stir up conflict.And now for the change.org one. While i get that there is some copyright problems as some assholes are posting unoriginal and copyrighted content on newgrounds just because of GD, making a change.org petition and being an ass about it won't change anything(which is ironic, considering the website is called CHANGE.org). They're just inviting hate. |

Geometry Dash has a lot of problems both community and game-wise and just like GoodSmile said this is mostly Robtop's fault. Most of what i think has been stated before by Vitesse's thread but i'll add some more things into it. [etc.] I don't think it's mostly Robtop's fault. Newgrounds would never have done any of this if members of the the Geometry Dash community (not robtop) hadn't been making a problem out of breaking Newgrounds' upload rules constantly and bringing hate to the site. Sure, it would've helped if Robtop had better communication, so the problem would be solved before it had to be taken this far. But the issue still stems from the community. This dude is freaking pathetic. Removing the game isn't a solution, it's just ruining someone's work, especially RobTop's. [etc.] I completely agree that removing the game isn't a solution, because people will still use newgrounds and can still play the game. However, you don't understand, it's not meant to be a solution. It's a means to an end: removing the game is a temporary way to bring attention to the problem and get Robtop to do something about it, since because of his terrible communication he hasn't been doing anything. And right now, it's working: Apparently Robtop has already said he will do hotfixes to things regarding this to Newgrounds, in response to the game being taken down from Steam. |

Yeah, I know it would be a temporary "attention" to the community, so RobTop would start working with the problem. It was pretty radical, but if it worked, I don't really care very much. I hope RobTop will fix that and less people will upload stolen songs.

Yeah it would suck if this is the end of GD. I hope it is not but I can say the future is uncertain. If the game is taken down completely then hopefully we can get refunds.
If it is true that it is Nintendo taking GD because a few things resemble their content then #Fuck Nintendo

The only things that nintendo can strike are the mushroom block, the shyguy, and possibly the kirby face icons, and even then there's still fair use. I think Nintendo can't touch rob atm. TBH I'm more surprised Rob got away with straight up using finn from adventure time.
