Here, I present you everything I found in the editor.
I will try to explain everything in detail, so everyone will understand.
This is for those people who don't have access to the editor.
I might also do this for future updates.
Oh and also, Good Luck scrolling to the end!
Object Selection Menu / Build Tab
Firstly, nothing is new in the Edit and Delete Tab.
In the Build Tab however, there are LOTS of new things.
A total of 448 new, 67 removed, and 4 re-added objects. This gives a net total 385 added objects.
For this, I will list all the objects that were added, and objects that were removed.
Blocks Tab (237 new, 0 removed)
The first tab, contains a lot of new things.
This tab contains the most objects added.
In this tab, the amount of objects added is just WOW.
Just look at how many pages it has (there are 46), it even exceeds the screen.
We have 237 new objects in this tab.
Here they are:
No objects from the previous updates were removed, so that's okay.
Slabs Tab (11 new, 5 removed)
Next is the Slabs Tab.
The new objects here are the Dashed Lines.
They act like what a normal invisible object would do. Just like what is shown in this video:
Now, we can also see that some of the 1.0 objects are replaced with new ones. That is,
Therefore, RIP old 1.0 slab blocks...
Outline Tab (0 new, 0 removed)
Nothing is new here.
Slopes Tab (4 new, 24 removed, 4 re-added)
First off, good news!
Remember those "platform slopes" hidden in 1.8? RobTop decided to re-add them again! He also made colored version for each of them.
Now, bad news. Almost every slopes with outlines are removed.
Every slope that had a style like blocks from 1.7 and above, their outlined version are removed.
This is the tab with the most objects removed.
Spikes Tab (27 new, 23 removed)
In this tab, 4 colored versions for a thorn is added. One for each of its type.
What's odd here is that, the black thorn is only 1. While the new ones, 4 are added.
And also, almost all of the objects in this tab has been replaced with new colored ones.
3D Objects Tab (20 new, 0 removed)
And of course, new 3D Objects for new 2.1 objects.
But if you would look at the 3rd type of 3D object, it seems that some 3D objects missing. I have no idea why they aren't there.
Interactives Tab (47 new, 0 removed)
Now here comes the exciting part! This is one of the two tabs that contains the most important features of 2.1. The other being the triggers.
Here are the new things:
Red Pad - makes the icon jump higher than the yellow pad.
Red Orb - makes the icon jump higher than the yellow orb.
Black Orb - makes the icon fall immediately. (Only works for normal gravity. If not, it will act like a yellow orb.)
Custom Orb - a custom orb, can be edited with Edit Special (explained later).
Spider Portal - makes the icon a spider (explained later).
4x Speed Portal - makes the game 4x speed (its actually 1.8482x speed). It makes the cube go exactly 19.2 blocks per second.
Heart, Lab Flask, Skull, and Small Coin - they function like keys.
Heart, Lab Flask, and Skull Holes - they are like keyholes, they don't do anything but decoration.
Bat - a new monster in the game. It has its own animation set.
Loads of new decoration - fireballs, lava, electric something, exploding circles, and more.
Particle Boxes - They are marked with a P. There are two types of particle boxes right now.
D Block - for wave-compatible blocks.
J Block - for making the cube unable to hold-jump. (Only works for reversed gravity so far.)
S Block - for stopping the icon when using a dash orb.
H Block - for making blocks where it is safe for the cube to hit its head under.
The D, J, S, and H blocks are only visible in the editor, not in the real level.
Anyways, let me trigger your OCD ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°):
Decorations Tab 1 (9 new, 0 removed)
Here, we have new glow for slopes. All are problems regarding slope glows have been solved!
Decorations Tab 2 (48 new, 0 removed)
New blocks. (I couldn't think of anything to say here.)
Rhythm Objects Tab (0 new, 0 removed)
Nothing is new here.
Spinners Tab (27 new, 9 removed)
We have new spinners here, they look really cool actually. (Except for those spikey shapes, they don't even spin at all.)
And now, we have yet another set of objects replaced! D:
RIP Black Sawblades.
Triggers Tab (18 new, 6 removed)
Now here we have the most important objects in 2.1.
In 2.1, a LOT of triggers were added!
To see what they all do, please read this: gdforum.freeforums.net/thread/39632/p1kachu-presents-use-triggers-2
But in spite of that, we also lost some triggers because all the Color Triggers were merged to one.
Edit Buttons
If you'd look at the right side of the editor, you can see a lot of new buttons.
(Left side shows buttons in 2.1, right side shows buttons in 2.0)
If you've noticed, all these buttons became squares, while in the previous versions they are circles.
We also have these new buttons, here is what they do:
Edit Special - an additional Edit Object for special objects. If more than one object is selected, this button will be enabled, but if not all are Special Objects, pressing it will do nothing. This will be explained more clearly later.
Copy Values - copies the values you have assigned to an object.
Paste State - pastes to the object the group values you have copied.
Paste Color - pastes to the object the color values you have copied.
Quick Color Select - lets you edit the object's colors quickly without having to press Edit Object. If more than one object is selected, this button will be disabled. This will be explained more clearly later.
Go to Layer - brings you to the layer where the object is located. If more than one object is selected, this button will be disabled.
Edit Special
Some objects have the Edit Special option. There are only quite a few objects that use this feature.
I'll list all the objects that I have found so far use this feature:
Orbs (except for Black Orb for some reason. See Spinners below.)
For Orbs, we have an Allow multi activate. This is what the creators have wished to have for so long.
I wonder what this option does?
How helpful.
Custom Orb
Well, this box is just the same as you would edit a Toggle Trigger.
Key, Heart, Lab Flask, Skull, Small Coin
You can select between the two options, whether the object should act like a Pickup Trigger, or a Toggle Trigger.
Spinners (including Fireball and Black Orb)
We can finally control how Spinners move. We can make it rotate in a certain speed or direction, or maybe not moving at all.
The Help info says "Item pickup help". How is this even a Pickup object?
Item Counter
Nothing special, just a normal setup for the Item Counter.
Edit Group
Some things have changed in Edit Group.
The Z Layers below were replaced with "B" or "T" along with its level number.
There are also Dont Enter and High Detail options.
Quick Color Select
We have the new button, Quick Color Select.
This is just very similar to editing a color channel, except it much more accessable.
The bars from left to right, are: Hue, Brightness, Saturation, Opacity.
Level Settings
Pressing the gear icon on the upper-right opens our Level Settings.
Nothing new can be seen at first (except for the 4x speed, spider mode, and Fingerdash song).
There are no new Fonts sadly.
The plus (+) sign at the corner of each color channel up there opens up its respective Quick Color Select (see above).
The color channel bug has been fixed now. You can only see up to Col 999 now, you cannot see beyond that anymore.
There are 7 new Backgrounds and 6 new Grounds.
Pause Menu
Now let's take a look at the Pause Menu.
A lot of the checkboxes on the left has moved to the Editor Options.
What's new is the "Select Filter". It is used to add effect to your photos that are taken from Snapchat.
We also have all those new buttons on the right. I have no idea what even one of them does.
- Build Helper
- Create Base
- Create Outlines
- Create Edges
- Unlock Layers
There are also smaller buttons, which Align all the objects according to how you want them. We also have Select All, which is pretty convinient if you want to select a lot of things at once..
Pressing that gear on the upper-right gives this:
There are three things new here.
- Duration Lines
- Hide grid on play
- Hide Background
Miscellaneous
Here are some new 2.1 editor features that don't fit with any categories above.
Increase the object limit from 40,000 to 80,000
When you exceed the object limit (40,000), you will be given a choice to increase it.
When you choose "Increase", the word "(high)" will appear next to the Object Count.
"So P1kachu, what is the warning that will display?"
I tried to Save and Play, but the screen just faded black as if its going to play the level, but it just exited the level.
I also tried to press Save and Exit then pressed Play. But when I pressed Play, the level exited itself again.
Finally, I tried to edit the level again. Guess what happened, the level exited itself again.
So don't ever make a level with more than 40,000 objects, or else you'll never be able to edit it again.
And that's all the new things you can find in the editor.
Thank you for reading! I hope you liked this thread.
If you have any questions, or I missed anything, please tell me. I will add them here too.
I will try to explain everything in detail, so everyone will understand.
This is for those people who don't have access to the editor.
I might also do this for future updates.
