Welcome to the (currently unofficial) guide to getting unbanned.
You can get banned for plenty of reasons, many of which I’m sure you know. However, the only solutions I’m seeing in the support section are “contact RobTop or reload your data”. So I decided to give it a shot myself. First things first, I had to get myself banned. How should I do that? With a star hack, of course.
Keep in mind, I’m not using my original account here. I have an alternative account which I used for this, partly because I didn’t want to get banned on my real account. After changing game data about 3 times, I managed to get banned. I had no global rank, and the leaderboards would not load.
But, something even more interesting happened. I logged back into my main account, and I was still banned. The game doesn’t ban you by account, it bans you by IP. Meaning, if you change your IP, you get unbanned!
Well, easier said than done. If you have a VPN (virtual private network) your IP changes about every 5 minutes. However, most VPNs cost money, and the ones that don’t are basically viruses. There’s an easier way to go about changing your IP.
Static or Dynamic?
There are two main types of IPs: static, and dynamic. A static IP remains constant, while a dynamic one changes over time. If you have a dynamic, it means your ISP (internet service provider) should provide you with a new IP maybe once a week. If you have static, your IP never changes. So, how do you figure out which one you have?
Most people have a dynamic IP, but you should check, so you don’t end up wasting your time. If you have a static IP, you have to contact your ISP to change it.
For finding your IP type, you have two options, depending on your system. Make sure that you’re connected to the internet when trying these, obviously.
Windows:
Open up command prompt (search “CMD” on your computer) and type in:
ipconfig /all
You should get a bunch of text. Look for the title that has the words “local area connection” in it (the words before depend on your internet type, but they don’t matter). Look next to the words “DHCP enabled”. It will either say “Yes” or “No”. DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Control Protocol, so if it says “Yes” then you have a dynamic IP.
Mac:
The process is also pretty simple on mac. Go to “system preferences”, then to “network”. The “Configure IPv4” should say “Using DHCP”, like below:
Hopefully, you have a dynamic IP. If you do, you can try the following:
1. Close everything and shut down your computer.
2. Unplug your router.
3. Unplug your modem cable (that strange looking plug that should be near the router plug).
4. Wait 7 minutes.
5. Plug everything back in.
Keep in mind you’ll have no internet while the router and modem are unplugged.
Get back on Geometry Dash. You should be unbanned!
If you’re still banned:
Repeat the steps above, but keep the router and modem unplugged for at least 8 hours (make it 10 to be safe, otherwise you have to start all over again). I suggest doing this overnight, unless you’re hardcore enough to go 10 hours with no internet. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Hopefully these tips helped. If you have a question, just reply below.
