Why is the dual ship heavier than the normal one? It annoys me a lot.

The dual ship takes the weight of the upside-down ship. The upside down ship is also heavier.

Why is the dual ship heavier than the normal one? It annoys me a lot. Either Robtop programmed it to be like that or it was a complete accident.

It's because the upside-down ship is also ''heavier'' On dual mode, the normal one just takes over this habit and becomes ''heavier'' to. But as far as I know this problem only occurs on mobile and 60 hertz. On 144 Hz it should be balanced between them. (I don't have a 144 Hz monitor, but that MgostiH frapslock hack, and I got about 1500 fps, and the ships were identical) But imo the upside-down ship is easier to control, so I never had any problems with it. could also be that I play on PC and not mobile mainly.

Wait, I'm pretty sure the dual ship is even heavier than the upside-down ship. Or at least it feels that way.
I don't know why RobTop programmed it like that, but I guess it helps with our sense of physics?

If RobTop wanted them to be the same he could have easily duplicated the code for upside-down ship. That isn't the case, so he probably did it intentionally. I think it does help in certain ways, we just might not realize it. Maybe it's easier to straight fly with a heavier ship, or easier to maneuver into small spaces.

Are you guys sure the upside-down ship is heavier? I've NEVER felt any difference between upside-down and regular, yes I ALWAYS feel the difference between dual and non-dual.

Idk For me, wave seems to go up and down faster too in dual mode.

You can tell the difference by locking screen rotation on mobile and trying to play Jumper or Time Machine upside-down, for example.

According to my level difficulty calculations, ship, whether upside-down or not, travels at a terminal slope of 1.11 when going "down" (not clicking) and a terminal slope of 1.43 when going "up" (clicking). I tested the dual ships as well, and they have equal slopes. Parabolas are the same as well. However, there might still be a reason it feels heavier. 1. The game lag. With two ships instead of one, the game has to do more work and responds to an input slower, making the ships feel "heavy". This could also be true for the upside-down ship; RobTop likely re-uses his own code but changes a few class properties, slowing down the game a bit. 2. An optical illusion. This option seems more likely to me. No matter what you do, your brain will pay attention to one ship more (even slightly) than the other. When your brain registers the other ship out of your peripheral vision, it sees it going in the exact opposite direction. Using it as a relative point, it can skew your perception of the other ship's speed, making them both seem slower. OR, it could be an effect of lower contrast. With more of your own ship color on the screen, objects seem slower, because of lower contrast (Here's a link for proof: anstislab.ucsd.edu/files/2012/11/2003-Moving-objects-appear-to-slow-down-at-low-contrasts.pdf). If this is the case, try switching to highly contrasting colors and see if it makes a difference. Complementary colors such as purple and yellow, black and white, orange and blue, and green and red will work best. For all you know it could be a combination of all these things, or none of them.
