I've seen many people posting threads asking for collaborations uneffectively, which is why I decided to make this thread! I'm not very good at creating long-detailed guides, so any feedback would be welcome!
Hey, where do I post my threads asking for collaborations anyways?
>> Click me! <<
Believe it or not, if you post it in General Discussions or anywhere else and explain why, IT WILL STILL BE MOVED THERE! Rules are rules, and it states that everything MUST be in the correct section.
Okay, I've clicked the Create Thread function, now what?
Decide on a song before going over the next steps! It is ESSENTIAL to know what song and style you are going for before naming the (mega)collaboration. For example, something that has a purple theme and the song Abyss 2 by F-777 may use the name Amethyst, a level which has lots of different styles with the song -Rose- Remastered by cornandbeans may use the name "Roseus" and so on. Think long and hard about the name! It is optional(but recommended) for you to target a difficulty in order to balance the parts. If you do not target a difficulty, some parts may be too hard and some parts may be too easy, and so on. Once you have finished deciding on all of the above factors, divide the song into parts!
Sure, how do you divide a song into parts?
Keep some sort of note somewhere, you're going to need to record how long each part is. It also depends on how many people do you want in your collaboration. 5, or more people, count as a megacollaboration. Try to listen to the song first. Once you've decided where you want to start the song, listen for a natural ending. For example, if I play a song and the first natural ending is 23 seconds, I continue listening for the next 23 seconds and if it's a natural-sounding ending, I continue. If not, then I try to find other natural-endings until I manage to get at least 1 minute's worth of playtime. However, this is not the case for some collaborations. You may choose to make a part longer than another, sometimes just by a little, sometimes a lot. You may even insert speed changes in order to fit with the song. However, if you do, keep in mind to inform the members of the collaboration to NOT EDIT THE LOCATIONS OF THE SPEED CHANGES UNLESS VERTICALLY! Also provide a video, so it is easier to choose. The video can be hosted on Everyplay, YouTube or any video streaming website that is accessible and virus-free. Keep all of the times in your notes. It may look something a little like this:
It may also look different, depending on how you choose to present it. The above is a quite simple way of showing the timestamps, and I use it frequently. It is also a requirement to show a blank "part list", which may be like the one shown above but just blank, or you can choose how to do it yourself. You may also restrict gamemodes, but I find that to be a bad idea, as it limits the creativity of the creator to just 1 sort of vehicle.
Okay, what's next?
Coming up with an eye-catching title for your thread! Such as:
MEGACOLLAB: Amethyst [Easy Demon]
or:
COLLAB: Intrigue [Harder 7*]
Using special symbols may, in some cases, make your thread look bad, but if used properly, it can be a powerful weapon! Example of usage:
( ๑‾̀◡‾́)σ» Looking for help on level! [DECORATORS NEEDED / EASY 2*]
I used the "( ๑‾̀◡‾́)σ»" smiley to grab attention! More tips?
Use proper grammar and capitalisation!
Try to be not overly informative nor be not informative enough in the title of the thread. What do I mean by that? People will usually look at the difficulty targeted before making a decision! Place the star and difficulty description, and if it's a demon, include "EASY" or "NORMAL" or whatever you're aiming for!
Have an interesting name for the collaboration. Something like "I Like Cats" isn't going to be eye-grabbing, and neither is just "Omega". Try some more "exotic" words. Maybe "Starlight", or "Moonlight Recital". Just be careful not to go over the 20 character limit!
What else do I need to know?
Sometimes, using proper formatting and detailed description of exactly the theme you're going for will help a lot in getting collaboration partners. If you're aiming for a level like "The Last Recital" by Kaito, you can maybe describe it as a:
"Mysterious, atmospheric level that is tear-jerking for fans of the game Deemo. Lots of art pieces in the level relating to the game should be used. Have a sort of heartbreak feeling, fitting to the song, with fast sections that give the feel of panic and having not enough time. Decoration should relate to various locations of the game, such as the Library and the platform. Piano themed."
The thread title could be:
DEEMO FANS UNITE! The Last Recital (Insane 9*) Collab!
As the capitalised exclamation at the beginning can catch the eyes of many fans of the game Deemo.
You should bold out sections of the thread that are extremely important, such as the difficulty target(even if already in title), the rules(optional, but recommended so nobody messes with others' parts without permission), headings(such as "PARTICIPANTS" or "APPLICATION FORM") and et cetera. Basically, what you think is important. Don't forget to show your work too.
What next?
Provide means of contact. Make a Skype group, or a Discord group. Anything works, as long as the participants have them.
Then, after that, add information about them to the post. You can either make it public, or send them the join link through PM.
After that?
You post, of course! And hope for the best.
Thanks for reading!
