Triple spikes. Nuff said
Edit: after playing both again, it is all down to whether you're better at cube or ship, as for time machine it has plenty of triples and very easy ship sections, while X step has some ship parts which could be harder for newer less expericanced players, as well as ball parts and a little bit of memory, it's all down to what people find easier really.

To be honest, I had more problems with Time Machine due to the last 20% of the level. xStep has fairly simple obstaclse and it's easy once you learn the tricks and patterns, while Time Machine's last 20% might be a bit difficult for new players (also: triple spikes).
Fun fact: I beat xStep before Time Machine.

It took me longer to beat xStep than Time Machine, but looking back on it I think that I was more determined to beat Time Machine than xStep; tbh I think both levels are equal difficulty, but I'll choose Time Machine for the sake of this poll.  |

The amount of times i fell at those triple spikes is insane. Time Machine is harder imo. For xStep all i needed was to complete practice mode 2-3 times so i could learn not to jump at fake orbs etc.

Like Squidhorse said, this isn't as easy of a decision as many of you think.
While ship skills are developed in almost every level these days, triple spikes aren't used as commonly and don't give us a lot of practice.
Back when I first beat both of these levels xStep was more than twice as hard just because of the first couple ship sections. Even now I think they're onyl around the same difficulty.

Time Machine. Definitely, the triple spikes in that level are just pain.

Depends, really. Like others have said, it basically comes down to whether you find triple spikes or the ship mode harder.
I'd say that they're around the same difficulty since I don't find triple spikes too hard to get past. If you include coins, though, xStep is definitely harder because the second one is ridiculous to get.
