Simple debate, is it better if a level is original (a style or thing that hasn't been done before) or if it is like other levels, but still looks really cool?

Orginality, however decoration is important too, because a level might look ugly that way. Still it's better to make an unique, fun level than an overdecorated mess.

I prefer a good mix of 30% originality 70% good decor.

Originality means nothing if you can't pull it off well. "Pulling it off well" is making it look good.
If an original level looks worse than a standard one, then it's worse. And vice versa

I would rather have good decorations than an original level, because a lot of things can be categorized as "original" simply because no one has done it before.
For example, I could make an original level by only using the corner rainbow block and default block for everything. I could make the entire level dual wave. I could intentionally make it as buggy as possible. These ideas are "original", but they probably won't end up being good levels.

There's a difference between being original with at least decent-quality decoration and just being terrible. Originality usually prevails with good decoration, so using 1.0 objects with flashing blocks spammed everywhere isn't really original to most people's eyes. 40% Originality and 60% Decoration is a good ratio because you basically need good decoration to fully express your "original" idea. |

I'd say good decoration/design is more important because having original ideas also requires good execution. An original idea with poor execution is worse than an unoriginal idea with amazing execution.

Originality.
Simply because, seeing something not done before, will most likely make the community go "Whoa".
While reusing the same idea over and over again will make people go "This sh*t again".
Also, I'm a fan of good style, if its actually good, and not this "Put Wires in the block design" BS
