Well, I am definitely not the best reviewer in the world, but I think I did a good job. Deco: GoodI liked the deco, and it was good. I liked the swirls used for the portals, that was very good. The moving "swings" during the ship was also excellent. The cube has very nice design, with the purple, and the block designs were excellent. They were however very reptitive in some sections, and think you should have perhaps changed the colour more. The clouds were a good idea, and fit with the purple, but I think the type of cloud used is a problem. The one you used was very cartoony, which doesnt quite work with the rest of the level, as it is more realistic. The stars and music notes are a great addition, as well, as they add that extra flashiness, and this is used throughout the level. Of course, this makes the deco more repetitive, and the pulsing should have been done by other means, (like flashing circles or hearts instead of music notes and stars). But apart from that it is good. The best deco was most likely the CBG on the wave. That was great, but I think this should have been used in other parts of the level to make the deco that bit more great. The deco that replaced the portals was also an excellent choice.
Gameplay: Decent The gameplay is decent at best. The moving parts helped add life to the level and that really assisted in improving the level. However, I noticed in quite a few sections the shapes get very repetitive, and this makes the level duller, I think you should have used more varied shapes as well as sizes, because it seems as though you used a lot copying and pasting. An example of this would be the cube, which uses pillars and platforms that are the same. The ship doesn't use too much of this so that makes the gameplay better. What was especially bad about the gameplay was the UFO. What you to do is incredibly repetitive. You go up and down, and then up and down, it repeats far too much. And the entire section for the upside down UFO looks and is copied and pasted far too much. The mini UFO has the shapes but just difderent sizes, and it would have greatly benefited the level if you had changed the shapes here as well, because it is plain, dull and boring to go through. The ball and mini cube sections also suffer from this problem. In fact, pretty much the WHOLE level suffers from this problem, except the wave but I will get to the problems with that later. All this could have been avoided by changing up the shapes and sizes of the blocks.
Music Sync: OK I will be honest here, it wasn't very good. It was all over the place. The cube syncing very well, but the rest...well not so much. The gravity pads right before the ship different fit too well, I mean, I know what it is MEANT to fit, but you didn't really succeed in doing it. Some, if not most, of the fast beats used in it are ignored. In the middle of one of the UFO parts, the fast beat is heard, and nothing is used to compensate for it. It feels like the music was forgotten about at that point, so syncing isn't really there. This is something you should fix by perhaps adding gravity pads at this point, or really anything that will suit it. Despite that, there are some positive things to say about it. For most of the time, the level changed modes in beat with the song that was good. And in some areas, the BG pulsed in time to the song. Aforementioned, the cube synced very well and was most likely the best synced part of the level.
Flow: OK In quite a few areas, the flow was horrible. The deco that replaced the portals didn't match the color of the portal, so very often I was left confused as to which portal turned you into which mode. The moving parts in the cube came without any warning, so the player would be left clueless a fee times as what.to do next. I think you should have given a warning before the movements happened. The wave's flow was the worst though. The CBG didn't flash often enough, so very often you would have absolutely no clue where the blocks where that could kill. It took many attempts in PRACTICE MODE to even come close to defeating it. This is a major problem that must be fixed by either making the CBG flash more, or not making the blocks the same color as the BG, you don't want it to blend so well you can't even see it.
Creativity/Originality: OK The creativity wasn't too shabby. There weren't very many innovative ideas that haven't been used before, it is sorely missed. Quite a lot of things, of not all things, in the level are very easy to do. This is important as a good level leaves the player wondering "how on earth did they manage to do that?" And then go away and copy the level to see how they did it. This isn't one of those levels. It also isn't very original. I have seen many upon MANY levels done like this, and very old levels too. If this were 1.6 (ok so monsters removed) than this would get featured. But alas, it is not.
Overall: Ok/Decent I am not sure whether to go for high end Needs Improvement, or Low end/Borderline Decent. The level isn't exactly TERRIBLE, just there is far too many flaws with creativity/originality, music sync, and gameplay. Focus more on those, and uplevel the deco more. Happy Creating!
