So I have a 60hZ monitor, and I just wanted to know the difference between my monitor and an 144hZ one. Also what makes the refresh rate different, and how does it make straight flying easier? Thanks  |

144hZ monitors have less input delay and they changes the game physics in a way that the game is a lot easier to play, although some levels becomes impossible because of bugs. Straight flying is a lot easier because the way the ship moves is somewhat different

Refresh rate in Hz or hertz (electrical frequency measuring unit) determines how many times a monitor refreshes in a second. If your GPU is making 600 FPS and giving it to your 60 Hz monitor, the monitor will only display 60 FPS out of all those 600 FPS, so you'll only see 60 FPS on a 60 Hz monitor no matter how many FPS you get above. No point in having 600 FPS unless you have a 600 Hz monitor, but it doesn't hurt to unintentionally have FPS above the refresh rate.

Don't get a 144hz monitor if your PC can't provide 144 FPS, it can only cause problems

Just Google whether or not you specs can handle it Kappa According to my brother, it depends on the graphics card. A GTX 960 and up can handle one. I'm not sure what AMD cards can handle it though. |

I'm not sure what AMD cards can handle it though. rip me, I only have a GT 640M  I guess I have no chance of using 144 Hz |

You also need a good proccessor to get 144 frames per second, the graphics card and monitor just allows you to actually use the extra frames or something like that. |

You cant say GTX960 and up because 1) for example 950 and 960 are different series and IIRC the 960 is actually worse ( not sure here) what I know is that 950 is a followup to 850 2) it depends on the game anyway and GD isnt that resource demanding |

Theres a thing called "frame latency" which still makes above 60fps useful on a 60hz monitor. Thats because the 60 frames the game generates arent generated one exactly every 1/60 of a second, but a frame might for example generate 1ms after the screen refreshes. The frames arent generated exactly when the GPU requests them. When you have like 300fps and a 60hz monitor it still makes a difference, because theres a higher chance itll be closer to when the GPU requests the frame. Thats also why 144hz gives you such an advantage in GD... im pretty sure it'd make less of a difference if you could have 144 FPS in GD while using a 60hz monitor TL;DR: the higher FPS the better, even on a 60hz monitor Also doublepost because im too lazy to copy the quote now |

To my knowledge, having higher frames than your monitor can display (for example: 150 FPS on a 60 Hz monitor) can still be helpful because it slightly reduces input lag. I could be wrong, but this is what I have heard.
