Nice and in-depth really detailed Review. You explained your Thoughts about everything politely and carefully, while being honest when neccesary. Your Opinions you gave about this Level didn´t always agree with the majority, but you justified all your Points well, and came to a good and fair Rating on the End.
tl;dr Not approved. Let me do this.
General Things to be said about the Level: Ok, so the main Thing I´m gonna be complaining about here is all of the invisible Things. Portals, Jump Pads, just turn the Opacity up so the Player can see Things where they are neccesary. Also, some Parts were a bit underdecorated, but others look great! Please not that whenever I´m saying he, I mean Skyfrog, and not Konshin. Also thanks for the Video Glaceon. :3
First Cube: (0:00-0:07) This Part looks pretty bland all in all. The Background Effects are nice, but they´re not all that´s to a Level. The Gameplay here was as exciting as watching Paint on a Wall dry, and in the Foreground there was basically no Deco to be found. It just felt way too empty, and that entire Part could need a graphical Overhaul. Also, when you jump over the Jump Pad that´s supposed to transition you into the Robot, you unexplainably die from crashing into nothing, which is quite...uhh...not good.
First Robot:(0:08-0:14) Well, this was way nicer on both Gamplay and Deco. The Gameplay actually felt cool, because
there was something you had to do, and there was apperent Deco in the Foreground. Y´know, your usual Sawblades, Chains and Arrows. This Part was overall better but could still need some more FG Deco, like spinning Things, more Blocks to go along with the Style, or some Things could pulse to the Beat.
First Ship:(0:15-0:28) Wow, this was actually
way better. In the Part at 0:22, there was no apperent Lack of anything, except maybe a bit more Reaction Time for the Player.(Very minor Complaint ;3;) All in all, the Gameplay was nice, the Deco was cool to look at and there were no huge Lacks of anything. Also, the Custom BG was awesome. :3
First UFO:(0:29-0:36) Meh, was generally a nice Idea, and I see where you were going with this, but the Color Palette Mix didn´t work too well together. Purple and Black produce too much of a Contrast imo, and sometimes, due to the dark Background it was not apperent what was an Obstacle and what not. Plus there wasn´t too much FG Deco again, though I agree the BG looked nice.
First Wave:(0:37-0:43) This Part was a whole lot of Copy + Paste, and not more than that. The Gameplay wasn´t too exciting either, it was basically just avoiding the Lights in a Tunnel-Like Movement Pattern. The Side Switches were too unpredictable, and didn´t fit here imo, but atleast there was some Deco and an Attempt at better Music Sync.
First Ball:(0:44-0:53) Ok, now this Part was a single Mess. It was basically just executing seemingly random and arbitrary Gravity Switches on the Platforms, and pray that something invisible picks you up somehow. The Gameplay wasn´t really fun like that, and there was a Lack of Deco as well. Basically just an annoying Part.
Second Cube:(0:54-End) We´ve finally been shown an Attempt at greater Cube Gameplay, but not really. It was some basic Spike Dodging again, this Time with Platforms, but that´s about it. It was way too empty to qualify as anything good, and there was nothing really enjoyable here. It was too empty for that.
Gameplay: 5.6/10 Well, it wasn´t a second Manray from the Point of invisible Stuff, but it kinda took out the Fun as well. Some Parts, like Ship and UFO show really great Concepts and thinking, but the Cube and Wave Part e.g. ruined it. You should atleast make the Player be able to see what they have to do in Time.
Music Sync: 7.6/10 This is where the Level can catch up a surprising lot on Points again. The Gameplay honestly synced really nicely to thew Music in every Part but Ball and Robot, and whenever you used Effects you used them the right Way too and made the Level look really nice. You could have, however, done some more Things with the Objects and Deco, as those felt pretty dead for the most Part.
Design and Deco: 3.8/10 In nearly every Part this wasn´t a Thing. Huge Lacks of Foreground Deco are spread over the entire Level, and the Design Choices could have been slightly better in Terms of going with the Atmosphere of the Level. One Thing that kinda saved you Points here are the well-made Custom BGs, however, I´m just saying that these are basically the fewest important when it comes to me judging this Point.
Extras: 5/10 Straight-out giving you just half Points here, because it wasn´t bad, but it wasn´t too good either. You kinda ruined the nice Atmosphere of the Level with the too dark Wave Part, there was quite a bit of Copy + Paste involved, and the Gameplay was pretty unfun for the most Part. It also doesn´t always use 2.0 Features right, like making half the Level invisible (Exaggeration here but you know what I mean), and hiding especially Things like the Side Switch or Gravity Portals is not a good Choice.
Originality: x1.05 Well, this isn´t like anything we´ve really never seen before, but it certainly does use a lot of new and interesting Concepts, even if not always done perfectly, and features about no Stealing Ideas from other Levels.
Score: 22.38/48 or 5.595/12,
4
This belong to Decent and I don´t think further than that either. It did do some Things right, but others wrong at the same Time, and I think decent is fair enough.
