My 2 year old son likes this game. How do we change character appearance? I can find the customisation screen and change icon/colour but there's no 'OK' or Apply Changes' button and when we go to start level 1 it always defaults to the standard cube. I'm sure there's an obvious answer here! Thanks

The only way to do it is, to open the character customize button (or whatever it's called) select all changes and as soon as you exit that screen all changes should apply.

No idea what's wrong, it should automatically save when you exit the customization menu.
I've done this across all devices, both Lite (except Steam) and Full and they have all worked.

I'm sure there's an obvious answer here! Thanks explain a little bit more, what exactly is the problem, the cube / saved game doesn't work? or its just character appearance? if so you should be able to customize it here: Once you complete the first level, you'll unlock your first cube to change, otherwise you can get other stuff by tapping on the background cubes that sometimes come out, (requieres 10 user coins) go into The Vault hidden in the options as a lock, etc. You can check what achievements give you cubes or other items in the achievements tab (shown as a cup, or something like that pixelated) Some basic icons you can get, some are harder to get though:

It's just the icon I can't change. I go into the customisation menu, select one of the other available ones (eg. The square with the dot inside, or the ufo), click on the back button, start level 1 then I'm back to the cyan/green neutral faced cube again.
I did wonder whether we'd have to complete level 1 before being able to change anything at all but this isn't clear.
Sorry for such a dumb problem but thanks

this is how it would look in game:
now, the bubbles that show different types of "gamemode" can be changed once you get the corresponding cube unlocked, a good ship to unlock first is the Clutterfunk ship, it is awarded when completing Clutterfunk in normal mode, beware that Clutterfunk is very hard for beginners. Gamemodes are changed when you pass through specific Portals, the first one you'll encounter (in Stereo Madness) is the Ship. the rule is, all Gamemodes do different things when tapping, from Changing gravity to......uh......a flying spike? the Cubes below are unlockables, you get by default 4 when you install the game, and 4 different color rows. i'd suggest following the level's order until you get to clutterfunk, you should try Electroman Adventures before, which is some levels up.

Sorry for such a dumb problem but thanks The text in the bolded area makes me think you're pressing the wrong buttons. The default, if you say that no customization saves, shouldn't be a neutral faced cube, it should be a square with a dot inside. Which (probably) means that something must be saving, just that you don't notice. If you look at zeCookie's picture, you should be clicking on the square icons in the centre of the page (the square with the dot inside, the neutral face, the interlocking tetris blocks, another neutral face) not the circular ones on top (the square with the dot inside, the rocketship, the spiky ball, the UFO, the dart, etc.) Hope this helped, unless I totally misread the problem.

Ahhhhhh!
I see what you mean!I mistakenly thought you could be any kind of icon at any time, and that they were grouped into categories by aesthetic reasons, not by game mode.
Derp!
Thanks for explaining :-)
