Finally lmao. I remember when 2.1 came out. I was 12 at the time, now I'm 18 and it's finally happening. It's definitely going to be buggy at first but I'm hoping it won't be entirely broken. Worst case scenario is mega hack will have to fix a lot of bugs. Also I know I said this already but I will not be surprised to see a delay. Still hoping I'm wrong though I would absolutely love to see it come out in October. But November seems more likely.  |

I don't really care about 2.2 that much, but I'm happy for the people who do. that's pretty much the extent of my "thoughts" on the release date announcement lol

It's just weird to think that it might actually release this time around lol, especially after so many false starts (Rob was always saying things were nearly finished and also tended to set tentative release dates by the end of the year, which is why update rumors seem to soar around Christmastime). I'm a typical skeptical old player though (was 13 almost 14 when 2.1 released, just turned 20), so I'm not getting my hopes too high. Tbh I just wanna spend all my demon keys at once |

2.1 was released in an entirely different world to the one I'm living in right now. I hadn't done a single exam back in 2017, and am now horribly failing university. Several family members have come and gone, massive game releases and updates have occurred, and so on... the fact that we're seeing this release finally is genuinely surreal to the point where I'm reconsidering several things about myself.

Ngl. The 2 new offical levels look really messy. They try to introduce too many new features at once and have whacky gameplay.
My hopes on online levels are also low in 2.2. ig more than 95% of featured levels are gonna be a pain to play.
I am only excited for the platformer mode and also the short term "revival" of the community during the release.
Not trying to be pessimistic
Also... RIP 2.2 update memes.

LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!! This update is insane: lots of new content to look out for, many more icons, colours and achievements to unlock, as well as more potential for creators to build mind-breaking levels that will push the boundaries of the editor. Seeing all of this and more come to the game in 2 months is surreal, but I'm all for it and I can't wait to see what fresh experiences unfold in this new era of Geometry Dash  |

I wanted to say that there's too much, but then I realised I'm probably just horribly out of touch. I've not played the game much in the last five years or so, but as I've been trying to create a new level recently, I've realised how much more intelligent and complex level design has got since 2.1 came out, without there having been a single update, and how far behind I am (or, well, not that I was ever remotely good)... I'm guessing this new stuff will be able to sustain the community for a while as well.

I'm pretty excited, but I'm not sure if I plan to get back into GD. Having it work on iOS again will be a big plus, but I haven't played in many years now and have a lot of other things taking up my time. I'm still excited to see the forum activity rise again, though. |

I've been semi-actively maintaining a graph to compare update wait times. The blue line up top is November 1, 2023. out of curiosity, where would that model say that 2.3 would come out? The wait for 2.1 was 509 days, and the wait for 2.2 (assuming it comes out on November 1) is 2480 days. If we multiply 2480 by (2480/509), the result is 12083, meaning that 2.3 would come out on 30 November 2056. This probably isn't the correct way to extrapolate from a graph like this, especially if Rob sticks to his word for 2.3 and makes it only take a year or so. |
