This crossed my mind, and, made me wonder why people think furries are bad. I managed to chalk up to a few different reasons!
1: they think furry = zoophile if you dont know this, a zoophile is someone who feels intamate attraction to animals. this is not what a furry is. A furry is someone who views themselves as a human like animal. They express this by drawing out, what theyd look like. This is called a fursona. (there is nothing wrong with this)
The are ignorant: they have, too much prejiduce. Remember, some humans target things that are different.
Thats about all i could think of.

I'm assuming because a lot of people have the mindset that furries = weird. Sure, some might find it as strange but I don't think that means they deserve any hate targeted towards them. I find most of them to be really nice people who just like what they like, and there's nothing wrong with that.
As for the zoophile thing, I'm guessing since both involve animals, they just connect imaginary dots and assume this weird idea.

People just automatically categorize it as something weird, it's definitely not what everybody does but given that furry art and whatnot is typically drawn to appear more humanlike I suppose I can understand why they like it. On the other hand, zoophilia and other such things that are inherently more suggestive in nature I consider to be quite strange and even disgusting in both physical and digital form, but then again, perhaps that is because it's not considered "normal" (at least not in my social circles), and that word's definition in society is rocky at best. Even so, regardless of my own personal and moral belief, that's no reason to be offensive and insulting towards furries and zoophiles right off the jump without at least trying to first understand their viewpoints a little more.
(Edit: I'd also like to remind everyone that this discussion can be extremely thought-provoking but only if it is kept civil, so please try to do so. However, regardless of civility, if anyone in this thread begins bringing up things that are graphic or NSFW and not suitable for PG-13 audiences, I will lock the thread, so tread carefully)

If anybody posts graphic content or discusses it in inappropriate levels of detail, I will at least give out warnings in addition to locking the thread, but there are levels to NSFW stuff; something more minor but still NSFW might just get a warning, but more severe stuff may get an instant ban. Threads that center around more sensitive topics like this one typically don't last but maybe this one could be the exception and actually lead to intelligent discussion; that's still up to the users in it, though, so I and the other mods historically keep a closer eye on similar threads by leaving messages like this.

I feel like people say they hate furries, and then dont have an answer when you ask them why. I think bagley did bring up a good point however, most people, trolls, go around seeking attention in negative ways. While it is not wrong to want attention, most people do, there is still a better way for attention. They use minorities like a punching bag. They usually will do this by using derogatory language, and even go as far as to make death threats. This is mostly why the internet is a dangerous place to be. Also, JayFlight brought up the point saying this could be an intelligentthread topic. So might just bring up the LGBTQ+ This community recieves a lot of hate, just like the furry community. I also find that people say things they really shouldn't. And if we connect dots, it should lead to humanity not accapting anything "different" However, i should reflect on the term different. In this case, i think it would be humanity not accepting things that are different to the specific person. Now not all humans are like this. A lot of this can be explained through albinism. A lot of animal species will go as far as to kill the animal thats different. All that animal did was exist and the rest of its kind hates it. I hope these thoughts give some more ideas to others.
