Someone who can act serious when necessary, doesn't have to make stupid jokes all the time 24/7, etc..

why dont you just google it lol OP wants to know how you define mature, not the internet. Anyways, finally time to see what I think being mature is. I define mature as how you treat yourself and others. Mature people (in my eyes) also know when it's okay and not okay to be silly. Stuff like gossiping, bullying, and harassing is not being mature at all, and I think that everyone knows this. Doing an all nighter is fun, but not exactly responsible and mature. However, this doesn't mean you can't pull an all nighter if you want to be mature. Lastly, mature people also know when and where they've messed up in an argument, and do seriously consider that they might be wrong in said arguments.

a measure of how strong a cheese's flavour is.
how willing you are, to be accepting of differences between each other. and how much you are prepare to admit to facts being right over opinions.
those are my main 2.

This is a huge question that will definitely cause some major debate that will probably end up in people getting flamed and ultimately this thread getting locked.
A mature person, to me, is someone who can accept things as they are and give people the respect they deserve. Forgive people and feel sympathy for others, maybe even sometimes the worst of people.
There're different levels of maturity for different things tho.
Example: Someone may be more mature about suicide while someone else might be more mature about depression, some could argue that they're the same but they're entirely different. Some people are more mature in the sense that they don't decide to insult people who're going through tough times.

Well, a lot of it has been addressed in previous posts, but, I say a big part is not being arrogant.

Being responsable, honest, behaving properly, not making stupid jokes or making fun of people all the time, having an open mind to accept different opinions and preferences.
That's what makes a person "mature" imo, maybe i'm missing something.

being mature to me means you have a sense of responsibility, you can accept critism, you are caring about your friends, and you know when to make jokes. You try not to offend many people, but you are assertive and willing to defend yourself.

Everyone is mature, it just depends on the person you are asking. As long as they know how to act and talk in a right way, then that can be considered as mature.
If you flame on others for any reason and simply don't accept the opinion of others and thinking only you're is superior, that is when you're now acting really immature.

For me, a person who is mature:
A) Knows how to appropriately react to a given situation. They don't have to be completely perfect but they should know when a general action is okay at a certain time. For example, they should know when it's fine to be silly and when they have to get serious, or when they should be blunt and when they should be more sensitive.
B) Is willing to listen to other people's opinions. They don't have to agree with it, they just have to be willing to listen and open to new ideas.
