A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... There is/was a clan named GeoStorm. Back in it's early days, it was looking for members to join the clan. It was filled with well known YouTubers and creators. As it grossed in popularity, more and more people wanted to join. But at the time they set a high bar so only good players can join. Then, someone thought of creating another clan. Then someone made another. And another. And another. And so on. Now, we all know some. GeoWorld, GeoStorm, Interstellar Geometricians, TeamDashCrafted,... I could go on... and that is why it's a problem. Why do clans even exist? They have no in-game functionality. There may be a member that is in good relations with RubRub so that he sends good levels. And that may be the only purpose of clans. Don't believe me? Well, let's talk about TriAxis after he certainly didn't want any more attention (sorry, you are the example I know best). - In GS, TriAxis had a fight with Zobros, I think. It was about whether or not Venom was hacked. TriAxis was kicked out. Then Aspiral came, and made that viral with a video. Causing the birth of a modern day term 'TriAxis Drama'. That one thing lead to another to another until he eventually was cutting himself for pleasure. I am not saying that clans are bad - they are a great way to interact with people. That fight in GS was waaaay underthinked. People fight in groups eventually. Parents, friends, classmates - chatters. However in a game like Geometry Dash... have no purpose. Thanks to Fimatic for a mention of this problem on the [GB] post. Nice that you got this idea from a clan lel I think everything ever in the GeoDash community will become fine when all of the good players stop showboating and sucking their ****s all the time. You can really trace all of the problems down to that, except hackers.

I see nothing wrong with having no in-game functionality, "clans" as they are are pretty much just groups of people that hang out over Skype or something similar, and collab on levels occasionally, chat about the game, or even just talk about random nonsense. It's just like having a group of friends in real life, with a program like Skype serving as the way to communicate. And as for naming the groups, it just seems like a way to put a name to it and give it something recognizable. Kinda sounds cooler to think "Hey, I'll check what's happening in the GeoWolves today" and not "Hey I'll check what's happening in that Skype group I'm in today".
And personally, this is why GS's rule of "you can't be in other groups" confuses me. If being in a group is literally just a group of friends chatting together and playing the game, why must you not be allowed to do that? Not wanting to start anything, just genuinely curious, because it honestly seems like a silly rule.

Lmao clans don't exist for in-game functionality. In fact they aren't even clans, most people just call it that. Most GD "clans" are just Skype groups where people talk about GD, collabs, and maybe other stuff. They aren't pointless. Few people actually take "clans" that seriously.

Nothing wrong with 'clans', if you want to talk to people that also like GD that's what they're for.

Are clans really necessary? All they are is a place to chat and collab with the people in them, people just make them too much of a big deal, like you have to join one.

You don't have to join any clans. In some clans people just talk about random nonsense not related to GD. They are just for fun I don't understand the GS rule tho, wouldn't join it even if I could cuz I don't want to leave the other clans.

This is drama waiting to happen >_> GS's rule of "you can't be in other groups" wtf do they seriously have this rule? Yup, because apparently hanging out with groups other than GS is being "disloyal."
