A tutorial coming from a bad player. Just read...
Alright. There doesn't seem to be a thing like this anywhere so I may as well post this.
I gathered material from skilled players, overall gameplay and personal experience to come to this point, to show you what to do to improve. Luckily, there aren't bad habits that you can pick up on the way (like in Osu!) but there may have been things that you might not even know you were doing wrong. I am writing this because of all the people saying "PRACTICE!" then throwing pixie dust and flying away like a captain on 9Gag.
1. Becoming better is a matter of choice.
Most people play GD because they find it fun to lead a cube or a vehicle through dangerous paths. However, there is a possibility that you are only playing to get better. This may not seem like much, but if you are not satisfied with the outcome of practice, you will find yourself enraged (props to people that don't get mad). Renember, if you don't find the game fun at all, and all you want to do is practice all day every day, then it won't be the most enjoyable experience. If you are having fun, then this will be a breeze for you.
2. Use Practice Mode. Yes, we all heard this. "Keep playing a level until you can do it under 5-10 attempts in practice, then play on Normal mode." Yeah, but older players used (USED) an alternative method: "Reach a part in the level. Turn off Auto Checkpoints. Play that part until you can pass it almost every time." Yes, it took more time and attempts, but it increased your overall skill. It's up to you whether technique to use. Practicing helps you understand levels so you cannot be fooled by them.
3. Fill a cup, one drop at a time.
Now. Difficulty increasement, or difficulty fluctuation is one way of saying "OMAIGAD THE LEVELS ARE GETTING HARDER I AM USED TO EASY LEVELS" This will always be a thing. 1.5 Demons are now 2.0 Hards. Yeah. You need to keep up, otherwise you will be biting dust. Practice levels that are out of your comfort zone, but not a lot, e.g. you start practicing Cataclysm. One of the reasons why it took so many attempts to beat that level is because people weren't used to that difficulty. More attempts -> The more you are out of your comfort zone. Practice what you consider easy Demons, then start to practice what you consider Medium Demons, then Hard Demons, etc. No one became Riot or Cyclic over night.
4. Do physical excersize.
I don't know if anyone knows this, but it works charms. If you get out on fresh air, run, do some kind of excersize, your blood flow will increase, muscles strengthen further (which does wonders in a MUSCLE MEMORY/REACTION GAME) and well, increase your overall performance.
5. Doesn't matter if you use Spacebar, Arrows, Mouse or Tap.
Every technique has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Just because Riot is great with his mouse and Razor with the spacebar, doesn't mean that you should now try to do something differently. If you started one way, keep it like that (unless you play GD on phone and GD songs take up 80% of your device memory).
6. Take breaks.
Between every 10-15min, take a 5min break from the screen, drink water, do situps, talk to your family. Relax. It will recharge your stamina for another go.
7. Don't quit if you went down this road.
Now, you probably read this, if you are new to the game, you think like: "FOOK THIS THIS IS WAY TO COMPLICATED I AM OUT". Oh look, you came to a hard level that you cant beat. It's a real shame. Boohoo. Life gave you an obstacle and it's not that you can't pass it, it's that you don't want to pass it.
