Where I've been
Hey, everybody, I'm back. Not for good, I just figured I'd share this since just before I left there was a decent amount of players denying that the G502/G403 was the "best mouse" for GD. Namely Sunix pushing that the Logitech G903 was better than the G502. (Spoiler: It isn't, at least not for me)
I've been mostly playing FPS since I've left, games like Siege, CSGO, and most recently, Modern Warfare. While I play these games I've tried out maybe ~5 mice since I've left Geometry Dash. I've tried geometry dash with every single mouse. But before I can say what makes a good Geometry Dash mouse, I need to say what makes a good mouse for other genres.
The point of this thread is to hopefully explain why the Logitech G502 and Logitech G403 were and still (in my opinion) the best mice for geometry dash. As well as hopefully helping to avoid people from spending god damn 150 USD on a mouse they won't need.
Other Genres
Fact is, there is no best mouse for anything, It's all personal. My favorite mouse could be my buddy's least favorite mouse, and vice versa.
However, there are some on paper that're the best for certain genres.
The Logitech Wireless G-Pro (150 USD) and the Razer Viper Ultimate (ranges 120-150 USD) are arguably the best for FPS on paper. They're medium, light, and wireless. If you don't have that budget, it's almost unanimously agreed on to get a Zowie mouse, or the cheaper, wired variation of the Razer Viper. What makes an FPS mouse good is shape, size, weight, and latency. Buttons come later.
The Razer Naga (100 USD) and Corsair Scimitar (80 USD) are arguably the best for MMORPG games. It's even been argued that the Logitech G502 and G903 are good for mobas purely because of the amount of buttons you can use on the mice. What makes a good MMO/Moba mouse is the amount of buttons, then comfort comes second.
Mice in Geometry Dash
Mice are unanimously considered the best hardware for playing Geometry Dash.Along with 144hz monitors.
This is because of a combination two things.
1. Latency
2. Buttons
Latency and buttons both play into themselves, but for a second let's just talk about latency.
Latency is incredibly important. The term latency, in relation to computing, means "the delay before a transfer of data begins following an instruction for its transfer." in non technical terms, it's the amount of time it takes for your button press to be registered by Geometry Dash. The less latency, the better.
However, with FPS gaming mice, like the G502, differences in latency are impossible to notice. Often being down to a tenth or a hundreth of a millisecond. These sorts of things can be chalked up to anything. A newer model, a different connection type, how strong the connection is, anything. And unless you see in extreme slow motion, they're negligible.
Buttons come at a very very close second for geometry dash mice.
And Buttons are what set the G502 and the G403 eons ahead of every other mouse, despite having similar latency's to other mice.
It's the tactile feedback of the G502 and G403, in particular.
So what is tactile feedback?
Well, tactile feedback is when you feel a little bit of a sensation in your finger by clicking. If you have an android phone that shortly vibrates when you tap a key, it has integrated artificial tactile feedback. It might be called "haptic feedback" however. Just a thing to note. A lot of phones have this as a setting, in fact.
Out of every mouse I've tested since I've left, The G502 and G403 beat the rest when playing GD for that one reason. And I've tested a good amount. They have good tactile feedback. Out of every mouse I've tested, they have the best. Nothing beats them.
Why is the tactile feedback so important? It's simple. Control. You have so much more control. It's difficult to describe, but at least for me, I have way more control the more tactile feedback I have. I believe this is caused by my brain being able to recognize the click physically rather than just, relying on muscle memory.
In conclusion
Buy the G502 or G403 because they have good tactile buttons for geometry dash. I haven't found anything with nearly as good feeling buttons as those.
K bye.
EDIT: Also for the love of god, quit falcon punching the ever living assfuck out of your mouse button for this game. All you're doing is shortening the mouse's lifespan by another month when you do that.
